The main mitigation measure relies on the use of drift reducing nozzles on a portion of the boom in order to protect adjacent sensitive areas. The Driftradar ® concept aims at addressing a global and integrated management of a PPP application starting from the automatic setting of spraying parameters through a digital label of the PPP, a geolocalized management of sensitive areas and a real-time and in situ management of sprayer settings according to both the position of the nozzles and the wind direction. The study assessed such a concept both in silico and through field tests considering natural wind conditions. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the system.
