RESUMEN: Se describió clínica y radiológicamente la utilización de placas para osteosíntesis fabricadas con polimetil-metacrilato (PMMA), colocadas en la tibia de 6 caninos y retiradas ocho semanas después. En ninguno de los animales se observó alteraciones clínicas o radiológicas que mostraran algún tipo de alteración. Después de ocho semanas el material no presentó signos que demostraran presencia de reacción inflamatoria aguda o crónica en los tejidos blandos adyacentes, ni tampoco en la interface placa periostio. 
اظهر المزيد [+] اقل [-]ABSTRACT: The use of osteosynthesis plates made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) was clinically and radiologically described. These were placed in the tibia of six canines and withdrawn after 8 weeks. None of the animals presented clinical or radiological alterations. After eight weeks the material did not show any signs that demonstrated the presence of acute or chronic inflammation in adjacent soft tissues, nor in the periosteal plate interface.
