Application of discriminant analysis in differentiation of substrates for the production of plantlets Talipariti elatum (Sw) Frixell | Aplicación del análisis discriminante en la diferenciación de sustratos para la producción de plántulas de Talipariti elatum ((Sw) Frixell)

The aim of the study was to show the utilization of multivariate analysis to select the suitable substrate for production of Talipariti elatum plantlets, consisting in sugarcane straw, peat, and biochar as well as combinations of sugarcane straw-biochar, peat-biochar from morphometric variable as height, diameter at root collar, stem dry weight, main and secondary roots dry weight. The discriminant analysis result to be an appropriate statistical tool to differentiate substrates, throughout three discriminant functions was possible to explain the whole variation. The first discriminant function explained 96, 6% of the variation and the height was the most correlated variable in this function. The lower height was found in substrate biochar that could be related to lower nitrogen content relative to the other substrate.

El estudio tuvo como objetivo mostrar la utilización de un método multivariado en la selección del sustrato adecuado para la producción de plántulas de Talipariti elatum, constituidos cachaza, turba y biocarbón, así como mezclas volumétricas de cachaza-biocarbón y turba-biocarbón a partir de la evaluación de las variables morfométricas: altura, diámetro del cuello de la raíz, peso seco aéreo, peso seco de la raíz principal y peso seco de las raíces finas. El análisis de discriminante resultó ser una herramienta estadística factible para diferenciar los diferentes sustratos. Con tres funciones discriminantes se logró explicar la variación. La primera función discriminante explicó el 96,6% de la variación presente entre los datos, y la variable altura es la más correlacionada con esta. La menor altura correspondió al sustrato biocarbón que pudiera estar relacionado con menores contenidos de nitrógeno en relación con los restantes tratamientos.
