Impact of the increase of the half level the sea in the forest sector of the Guanahacabibes agroforestry enterprise | Impacto del aumento del nivel medio del mar en el patrimonio forestal de la empresa agroforestal Guanahacabibes

إنجليزي. Mean sea level (MSL) rise poses a critical threat to coastal ecosystems, especially in vulnerable regions such as Cuba. This study assessed the impact of rising MSL on the forest assets of the Guanahacabibes Agroforestry Enterprise (EAF), located in Pinar del Río, Cuba. Using the A1C emissions scenario and a projected 85 cm MSL increase by 2100, the impacts were analyzed in three silvicultural units (SU): El Valle, La Fe, and Cortés. The results showed that 4,461.98 hectares (4.10% of the asset) and 238,656 m³ of wood (2.88% of the total volume) would be lost due to flooding, with the greatest impacts on mangroves and coastal forests. The El Valle and La Fe would be the most affected, with significant losses of species such as Rhizophora mangle and Avicennia nitida. Furthermore, economic losses exceeding 10 million CUP and the release of CO2 from biomass decomposition were estimated. Adaptation measures were proposed, such as reforestation with salinity-tolerant species, coastal monitoring, and the suspension of timber harvesting in vulnerable areas. These actions are essential to mitigate the impacts and conserve forest biodiversity in the face of climate change.

الأسبانية؛ قشتالية. El aumento del nivel medio del mar (NMM) representa una amenaza crítica para los ecosistemas costeros, especialmente en regiones vulnerables como Cuba. Este estudio evaluó el impacto del aumento del NMM en el patrimonio forestal de la empresa agroforestal (EAF) Guanahacabibes, ubicada en Pinar del Río, Cuba. Utilizando el escenario de emisiones A1C y una proyección de 85 cm de aumento del NMM para 2100, se analizaron las afectaciones en tres unidades silvícolas (US): El Valle, La Fe y Cortés. Los resultados mostraron que 4.461,98 hectáreas (4,10 % del patrimonio) y 238.656 m³ de madera (2,88 % del volumen total) se perderían debido a la inundación, con mayores impactos en los manglares y bosques costeros. Las US El Valle y La Fe serían las más afectadas, con pérdidas significativas de especies como Rhizophora mangle y Avicennia nitida. Además, se estimaron pérdidas económicas superiores a 10 millones de CUP y la liberación de CO2 por la descomposición de la biomasa. Se propusieron medidas de adaptación, como reforestación con especies tolerantes a la salinidad, monitoreo costero y suspensión del aprovechamiento maderable en zonas vulnerables. Estas acciones son esenciales para mitigar los impactos y conservar la biodiversidad forestal frente al cambio climático.
