This research studied the arrangement formed by the celiac artery in 30 domestic ducks, Cairina moshata, 20 males and 10 females. Latex was injected in the arterial system and afterwards samples were fixed with a 10% formol solution. Later samples were dissected to permit better visualization of arterial vessels. The celiac artery leaves the arteria aorta, initially exits the arteria proventricularis dorsalis and the esophagic artery and then continues as two individuals branches: right and left. The left branch sends a vessel that is responsible for the irrigation of the ventral portion of the proventriculus (ventral proventricular artery) and the last end portion of the esophagus; then it sends three other branches to the left lateral portion and cranial border of the ventriculus and emits arteries to the left hepatic lobe. This was found occurring once in 5 samples (16.6% ± 6.8), twice in 14 samples (46.6% ± 9.1) and three times in 8 samples (26.66% ± 8.1). The right branch initially sends out the splenic artery. In 6 samples (20% ± 7.3) two arteries were found, in 12 samples (40% ± 8.9) 3 arteries were noticed and in 1 sample (3.33% ± 3.3) 6 arteries were described. Next it gives out collateral branches to the right hepatic lobe. The number of sent arteries varied from 2 in 21 samples (70% ± 8.4) to 3 in 9 samples (30% ± 8.4). The right branch still emits arteries that go to the left cecum and iliac portion next to it. This occurred with a minimal branch number of 2 in 17 samples (56.66% ± 9.1) or a maximal of 3 in 13 samples (43.33% ± 9.1). The right branch sends 3 more vessels to the lateral portion of the ventriculus, to its caudal margin and to the caudal portion of the piloric junction. After this, the right branch of the celiac artery continues as the pancreaticduodenal artery that irrigates the pancreas and the upper and lower parts of the duodenum. | Mediante esta pesquisa, estudamos os arranjos configurados pela artéria celíaca em 30 patos domésticos Cairina moshata, sendo 20 machos e 10 fêmeas. Foi realizada a injeção de látex corado no sistema arterial e depois as peças foram fixadas em solução aquosa de formol a 10% para posterior dissecação dos vasos arteriais. A artéria celíaca nasce isoladamente da aorta descendente e fornece a artéria proventricular dorsal e a artéria esofágica e a seguir continua-se como tronco de dois outros ramos: esquerdo e direito. O ramo esquerdo emite um vaso que vasculariza a porção ventral do proventrículo (artéria proventricular ventral) e porção terminal do esôfago e, a seguir, fornece 3 ramos que vascularizam a face lateral esquerda e a margem cranial da moela ou ventrículo, bem como a junção pilórica na sua porção cranial. Do vaso destinado à margem cranial da moela, surgem artérias ao lobo hepático esquerdo em número de 1 em 5 preparações (16,6% ± 6,8), 2 em 14 peças (46,66% ± 9,1) ou 3 em 8 peças (26,66% ± 8,1). O ramo direito envia inicialmente as artérias esplênicas cujo número foi de 2 em 6 preparações (20% ± 7,3), 3 em 12 peças (40% ± 8,9), 4 em 8 peças (26,6% ± 8,1), 5 em 3 peças (10% ± 5,5) e 6 em 1 preparação (3,33% ± 3,3). Em seguida, emite colaterais ao lobo hepático direito que foram em número de 2 em 21 preparações (70% ± 8,4) ou 3 em 9 preparações (30% ± 8,4). Ainda, o ramo direito emite artérias endereçadas ao ceco esquerdo em número de 2 em 17 preparações (56,66% ± 9,1) ou 3 em 13 casos (43,33% ± 9,1). O ramo direito origina ainda 3 vasos endereçados à face lateral direita da moela (ventrículo), à margem caudal e à junção pilórica em sua porção mais caudal. A seguir, o ramo direito da artéria celíaca continua-se como artéria pancreaticoduodenal que supre o pâncreas e as porções ascendente e descendente do duodeno.

In this research a study on the course of the portal hepatic system in 30 adult domestic ducks, male and female was performed. The portal venous system consists of two portal hepatic veins: right and left. The left portal hepatic vein is formed by left gastric veins (in a number varying from 1 to 2), veins from the ventral margin of the gizzard, piloric vein and caudal proventricular vein. The right portal hepatic vein is formed by the caudal mesenteric vein, cranial mesenteric vein, proventricular-spleenic vein and gastro-pancreatic-duodenal vein. The mesenteric caudal vein takes in tributaries from the mesorectum, cloaca and ileo-cecum-colic junction. The cranial mesenteric vein takes in jejunal tributaries (in number varying from 12 to 21) and forms anastomosys with the caudal mesenteric vein, which results in the common mesenteric vein. The pancreatic-duodenal vein receives two right gastric veins, this way forming the gastro-pancreatic-duodenal vein. The proventricular-spleenic vein is formed by the dorsal and right proventricular vein and by the spleenic veins. | Estudou-se o comportamento do sistema portal hepático em 30 patos domésticos, adultos, machos e fêmeas. O sistema apresenta-se constituído por duas veias portais hepáticas: direita e esquerda. A veia portal hepática esquerda é formada por veias gástricas esquerdas (em número de 1 a 2), veias da margem ventral do ventrículo, veia pilórica e veia proventricular caudal. A veia portal hepática direita é formada pela veia mesentérica caudal, veia mesentérica cranial, veia proventrículo-esplênica e veia gastropancreaticoduodenal. A veia mesentérica caudal recebe tributárias do mesorreto, cloaca e junção ileocecocólica. A veia mesentérica cranial recebe tributárias jejunais (em número de 12 a 21) e se anastomosa com a veia mesentérica caudal, formando a veia mesentérica comum. A veia pancreaticoduodenal recebe duas veias gástricas direitas, constituindo assim a veia gastropancreaticoduodenal. A veia proventrículo-esplênica é formada pelas veias proventriculares dorsal e direita e pelas veias esplênicas.

Herewith we studied the pattern disposition of the cranial and caudal mesenteric arteries in 30 domestic ducks (Cairina moshata), 20 males and 10 females. Latex 650 was injected in the arterial system and then the samples were fixed in 10% aquous formol solution for later dissection. The cranial mesenteric artery originates as a single vessel from the descendent aorta at the 6th or 7th rib, in a position immediately caudal to the celiac artery. Close to the ileo-cecum-colic junction, it subdivides itself primarily in 3 branches: the first branch gives away a vessel that goes to the colorectum, forming anastomosys with the caudal mesenteric artery. The second branch follows as a trunk to the jejunal arteries, that vary in numbers from 8-20. Finally the third branch is directed to the main and final portions of the right cecum and also ileo, vascularizing them. Concerning the pattern followed by the caudal mesenteric artery, we observed that it originates from the aorta as a single vessel, next to the caudal portions of the kidneys. In all observed samples the caudal mesenteric artery divides itself in 2 branches: a cranial one, that by itself gives away two smaller vessels to the mesorectum and a caudal branch that vascularizes the final portion of the rectum, cloacal bursa and cloaca. | Mediante esta pesquisa, estudamos os arranjos configurados pelas artérias mesentéricas cranial e caudal em 30 patos domésticos, 20 machos e 10 fêmeas. Foi realizada a injeção de látex 650 corado no sistema arterial e a seguir as peças foram fixadas em solução aquosa de formol a 10% para posteriormente serem dissecadas. A artéria mesentérica cranial nasce como um vaso ímpar da aorta descendente à altura da 6ª e 7ª costelas, em situação imediatamente caudal à artéria celíaca. Junto à junção íleo-ceco-cólica, subdivide-se basicamente em 3 ramos: o primeiro emite um vaso destinado ao colonreto, anastomosando-se com a artéria mesentérica caudal. O segundo ramo se comporta como tronco para as artérias jejunais, sendo que o número delas varia de 8 a 20. Finalmente, o terceiro ramo destina-se às porções principal e final do ceco direito e também ao íleo, vascularizando-os. No atinente ao comportamento da artéria mesentérica caudal, observamos que ela nasce como um vaso ímpar, a partir da aorta descendente, à altura das porções caudais dos rins. A artéria mesentérica caudal, na totalidade das peças examinadas, divide-se em 2 ramos: um cranial, que, por sua vez, emite 2 vasos menores para o mesorreto e um ramo caudal, que vasculariza a porção terminal do reto, bolsa cloacal e a cloaca.
