Мета. Визначити біохімічні показники якості вирощуваного у різних умовах насіння сортів ріпаку озимого. Методи. У процесі досліджень використовували лабораторний, розрахунковий і статистичний методи, для підготовки висновків – аналізу та синтезу. Результати. За результатами лабораторних досліджень визначили біохімічні показники якості вирощуваного в різних умовах насіння сортів ріпаку озимого типу розвитку, а саме: вміст олії, «сирого протеїну» та глюкозинолатів. Значний вплив на показники якості насіння мають метеорологічні умови впродовж вегетаційного періоду рослин відповідної ґрунтово-кліматичної зони. Встановлено, що у 2022 р. біохімічні показники насіння ріпаку озимого були вищими ніж у 2020 р. Зростання урожайності на 1,6 т/га у зоні Степу, 1,1 т/га – Лісостепу, 1,4 т/га – Полісся забезпечило підвищення вмісту олії на 2,4, 6,6 та 6,7% відповідно. Збори олії з гектара збільшилися на 0,74 т/га у зонах Степу та Полісся, 0,62 т/га – Лісостепу.  У 2022 р., порівнюючи з 2020, спостерігали зниження показника «сирого протеїну»: на 3,1% у зоні Степу, 5,8% – Лісостепу та 5,0% – Полісся. На вміст глюкозинолатів впливали умови років досліджень у відповідних ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах. Степ і Лісостеп мали ідентичні показники – 0,7%, Полісся – 0,8%, тоді як у 2021 р. для зони Степу та Полісся вміст глюкозинолатів у насінні ріпаку був на 0,8 та 0,9% більшим, порівнюючи з показниками, отриманими в інші роки досліджень. Висновки. Встановлено, що в середньому за 2020–2022 рр. загальний вміст олії в насінні ріпаку становив 46,2% (Степ), 47,5% (Лісостеп) і 47,8% (Полісся); вміст «сирого протеїну» – 19,6% (Степ), 18,4% (Лісостеп) і 17,9% (Полісся); вміст глюкозинолатів – 0,7% (Степ та Лісостеп) і 0,8% (Полісся). Збір олії в зоні Степу мав показник 1,31 т/га, Лісостепу – 1,16 т/га, Полісся – 1,33 т/га. Збір білка з гектара становив 0,54 т/га для Степу, 0,44 т/га – Лісостепу та 0,48 т/га – Полісся. Умови вирощування за роки досліджень у відповідній зоні впливають на формування біохімічних показників насіння ріпаку озимого.

This paper aims to assess and compare the sustainability of rapeseed and sunflower crop cultivation for energy purposes in Italy, by considering environmental and economic performances at the farm level. The analysis focused on twelve representative farming units that were extracted from a sample of 396 farms by applying a cluster analysis. Using an Attributional Life Cycle Assessment method, the values of midpoint environmental impact categories and the carbon footprint of the twelve farms were assessed. The economic performance of rapeseed and sunflower per 1 Mg of biomass cultivation was measured in terms of the value added. In order to combine an environmental and economic assessment, the eco-efficiency ratio was applied to measure the value added per Mg of greenhouse gasses emitted into the atmosphere. Three rapeseed farms had the lowest GHG emissions of the whole sample. Practices of intensive farming with high fertilization and mechanization (fertilizer and machinery production and usage) are known to have a negative environmental impact. When the level of productivity is low, the impact is still higher. Regarding the eco-efficiency ratio, of the twelve representative farming units, results showed again that the three rapeseed farms had the highest eco-efficiency ratio. Summarizing both perspectives, findings from the eco-efficiency analysis gave a premium to rapeseed over sunflower crop in terms of the economic value added per kg of GHGs emitted into the atmosphere. The study findings presented a complex picture of the crops and of agricultural practices of each farm that underlines the variability and sensitivity of results in specific case studies. Indeed, the complexity of the matter, including the implications of bioenergy crops for energy and food safety beyond the environmental and economic assessment of the cultivation phase, cannot be ignored. Further studies are needed to apply a multiple perspective to the joint analysis of the sustainability of agricultural processes related to first generation bioenergy crops.

Accounting for co-products of vegetable oil production is essential in reviewing the sustainability of biodiesel production, especially since oil crops produce valuable protein-rich co-products in different quantities and qualities. Two accounting methods, allocation on the basis of energy content and system expansion, are compared. Significant differences in results exist between the methods where system expansion is to be preferred because it can take actual use of co-products into account. Results are very sensitive to the choices made in system expansion. Differences can be large, especially between a system expansion where primarily the use of co-products of the oil crops is taken into account and an expansion that also includes direct oil exchange of the vegetable oil used for biodiesel for the marginal oil in the market.

To determine the biochemical indicators of seed quality of winter rape varieties grown under different conditions.Methods. During the research, the following methods were used: laboratory, calculation and statistical, to prepare conclusions – analysis and synthesis.Results. According to the results of laboratory studies, biochemical indicators of the quality of seeds of winter rape varieties, grown in different conditions, were established, namely: the content of oil, “crude protein” and glucosinolates. Meteorological conditions during the vegetation period of plants of the corresponding soil and climate zone have a significant influence on the quality indicators of seeds. Based on the results of the research, it was established that in 2022, compared to 2020, the biochemical indicators of winter rapeseed were higher. The increase in yield by 1.6 t/ha in the Steppe zone, 1.1 t/ha – Forest-Steppe, 1.4 t/ha – Polissia ensured an increase in oil content by 2.4% – Steppe, 6.6% – Forest-Steppe, 6.7% – Polissia and oil collection per hectare by 0.74 t/ha – Steppe and Polissia, 0.62 t/ha – Forest-Steppe. For the content of “crude protein”, a decrease in the index was observed, namely: by 3.1% in the Steppe zone, 5.8% in the Forest-Steppe and 5.0% in the Polissia in 2022 compared to 2020. Meteorological conditions of the research years in the corresponding soil and climatic zones had an influence on the content of glucosinolates. For the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones, the indicators were identical and amounted to 0.7%, 0.8% (Polissia), while in 2021, for the Steppe and Polissia zones, the content of glucosinolates in rapeseed was 0.8% and 0.9% more, compared to the indicators obtained in other years of research.Conclusions. It was established that, on average, for 2020–2022, the total oil content in seeds of rape was 46.2% – Steppe, 47.5% – Forest-Steppe, 47.8% – Polissia; “crude protein” content – 19.6% – Steppe, 18.4% – Forest-Steppe, 17.9% – Polissia; the content of glucosinolates was 0.7% in the Steppe and Forest-steppe zones, 0.8% in the Polissia; oil collection in the Steppe zone 1.31 t/ha, Forest-Steppe – 1.16 t/ha, Polissia – 1.33 t/ha; protein collection per hectare is 0.54 t/ha in Steppe, 0.44 t/ha in Forest-Steppe and 0.48% in Polissia. Growing conditions over the years of research in the corresponding zone affect the formation of biochemical indicators of winter rapeseed.

In this study, the seeds of open-pollinated winter rapeseed cultivars, hybrid winter rapeseed cultivars, open-pollinated spring rapeseed cultivars and hybrid spring rapeseed cultivars were investigated. The physical, optical, mechanical, geometric and image texture properties of rapeseeds were compared. Statistical models were developed based on the analyzed parameters to discriminate between seed groups. Most parameters effectively discriminated between cultivars of winter and spring rapeseed, including true density, porosity, L*, a*, b*, and spectral values at 400 nm, 470 nm, 500–530 nm, 560–620 nm, 640–650 nm and 690 nm. Four homogeneous groups were identified based on linear dimensions: F (surface area), S (width) and shape factors W6 (circularity ratio), Rb (Blair-Bliss coefficient) and W13 (roundness). No statistically significant differences in the mean values of hardness or area under the force-displacement graph were observed between seed groups. The model developed based on image texture variables from channel Y (luminance) was characterized by the highest discrimination accuracy of 82–87%. The experimental groups were classified with 89–92% accuracy in the model combining the best variables from each group of physical parameters. Total classification accuracy in neural networks reached 75% for a validation set comprising geometric properties and 91–92% for a validation set containing physical characteristics.

Здійснити комплексне вивчення та оцінювання нових сортів соняшнику (Helianthus annuus L.) за основними господарсько-цінними показниками, зокрема врожайністю, стійкістю до хвороб, вмістом олії та білка. Методи. Застосовували такі методи: польовий, лабораторний, порівняння та математичної статистики. Кваліфікаційну експертизу сортів соняшнику однорічного на придатність до поширення в Україні (ПСП) проводили в межах ґрунтово-кліматичних зон Степу та Лісостепу. У процесі досліджень послуговувалися «Методикою проведення кваліфікаційної експертизи сортів рослин на придатність до поширення в Україні (Загальна частина)» та «Методикою проведення експертизи сортів рослин групи технічних та кормових на придатність до поширення в Україні». Результати. Проаналізовано сортовий потенціал соняшнику за врожайністю, вмістом білка й олії та лушпинністю. Водночас досліджено господарсько-цінні ознаки його нових сортів (‘MAS 804G’, ‘LG58390’, ‘LG50550 CLP’, ‘SY THEOS’, ‘LG50549 SX’, ‘LG58630’, ‘P64LL164’, ‘P64LL455’), внесених до Державного реєстру сортів рослин, придатних для поширення в Україні. У всі роки проведення експертизи врожайність у зоні Лісостепу була вищою, ніж у Степу (‘MAS 804G’ – на 49%, ‘LG50550 CLP’ – на 38%, ‘SY THEOS’ – на 28,9%, ‘LG50549 SX’ – на 21,9%, ‘LG58630’ – на 19,5%, ‘P64LL455’ – на 12,6%, ‘P64LL164’ – на 10,3%), а найбільшими її значеннями характеризувалися сорти ‘LG50550 CLP’ (2,58–4,54 т/га) та ‘MAS 804G’ (2,79–4,26 т/га). За показниками якості, зокрема вмістом олії у насінні, переважали ‘P64LL164’ та ‘SY THEOS’, вміст білка становив 17,7–17,5% у сорту ‘LG58630’ та 16,7–17,1% у ‘LG58390’. Висновки. За результатами кваліфікаційної експертизи на придатність сорту для поширення досліджувані сорти рекомендовано до вирощування у зонах Степу та Лісостепу. Визначено сорти з найвищим вмістом олії у насінні – ‘SY THEOS’ (Степ – 51,4%, Лісостеп – 51,6%) і ‘P64LL164’ (Степ – 50,9%, Лісостеп – 52,1%). Найбільше накопичення білка відзначено у сорту ‘LG58630’ (Степ – 17,7%, Лісостеп – 17,5%).

To carry out a comprehensive study and evaluation of new varieties of the common sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) according to the main economically valuable traits, in particular yield, disease resistance, oil and protein content. Methods. The following methods were used: field, laboratory, comparison and mathematical statistics. The qualification examination of sunflower varieties on suita­bility for distribution in Ukraine (SVD) was carried out in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe soil-climatic zones. In the research process, the “Methodology for the qualification examination of plant varieties on suitability for distribution in Ukraine (general part)” and the “Methodology for the examination of technical and fodder plant varieties on suitability for distribution in Ukraine” were used. Results. The varietal potential of the common sunflower in terms of yield, protein and oil content and hulliness was analysed. At the same time, economically valuable traits of new varieties (‘MAS 804G’, ‘LG58390’, ‘LG50550 CLP’, ‘SY THEOS’, ‘LG50549 SX’, ‘LG58630’, ‘P64LL164’, ‘P64LL455’), included in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine, were evaluated. In all years of testing, the yield in the Forest-Steppe zone was higher than in the Steppe (‘MAS 804G’ – by 49%, ‘LG50550 CLP’ – by 38%, ‘SY THEOS’ – by 28.9%, ‘LG50549 SX’ – by 21.9%, ‘LG58630’ – 19.5%, ‘P64LL455’ – 12.6%, ‘P64LL164’ – 10.3%) and the highest values were characterised for the varieties ‘LG50550 CLP’ (2.58–4.54 t/ha) and ‘MAS 804G’ (2.79–4.26 t/ha). With regard to quality indicators, in particular the oil content in seeds, ‘P64LL164’ and ‘SY THEOS’ were dominant, while the protein content was 17.7–17.5% in ‘LG58630’ and 16.7–17.1% in ‘LG58390’. Conclusions. According to the results of the qualification examination on the suitability of the variety for distribution, the investigated varieties are recommended for cultivation in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones. The varieties with the highest oil content in seeds were identified as ‘SY THEOS’ (Steppe – 51.4%, Forest-Steppe – 51.6%) and ‘P64LL164’ (Steppe – 50.9%, Forest-Steppe – 52.1%). The highest protein accumulation was observed in variety ‘LG5863’ (Steppe – 17.7%, Forest-Step­pe – 17.5%).

Мета. Часник озимий – гетерогенний біологічний матеріал, за комплексом багатоманітних морфологічних і господарсько-цінних ознак якого (у природі та культурі) можна здійснювати добір перспективних форм. Продуктивність культури визначають такі кліматичні змінні, як температура й опади (основні абіотичні фактори навколишнього середовища). З огляду на сучасні тенденції до зміни клімату важливо проводити аналізи, спрямовані на опис та відбір генотипів рослин з найкращими адаптивними й продуктивними властивостями. Дослідження зосереджено на вивченні адаптивно-продуктивного потенціалу перспективних зразків Allium sativum L. subsp. sagittatum сукупно з сортами, на яких базується виробництво часнику в Україні, за такими ознаками, як «маса цибулини», «врожайність» і «вміст ефірної олії». Методи. Впродовж 2020–2022 рр. у польових умовах (м. Умань, 48°46′N, 30°14′E) досліджували п’ять поширених і два новостворені (‘Аполлон’ і ‘Джованна’) сорти часнику озимого, а також його перспективні сортозразки № 25 і 40. Отримані результати оцінювали методом регресійного аналізу для визначення стабільності та пластичності сортів. Результати досліджень умовно поділяли на дві групи за параметрами. Перша містила результати, які показують найважливіші адаптивно-продуктивні характеристики (маса цибулини, врожайність, пластичність, стабільність, селекційна цінність, адаптивність). Друга – параметри біохімічних властивостей досліджуваних популяцій (ефірна олія), які у цьому разі демонстрували значний вплив та істотну стабільність. Більшість досліджених популяцій часнику здатні слугувати результативним матеріалом для одержання нових сортів. Їх можна класифікувати так: ‘Хандо’, ‘Джованна’, ‘Аполлон’, № 25 і № 40 – висока врожайність, адаптивність і селекційна цінність; ‘Софіївський’, ‘Аполлон’ і № 40 – технологічна якість (технічні сорти); ‘Джованна’ – харчова якість (столовий сорт). Висновки. У результаті проведених досліджень встановлено спектр адаптивної мінливості сортів A. sativum L. subsp. sagittatum за показниками маси цибулини та врожайності й виявлено нові перспективні зразки, що можуть бути використані як вихідний матеріал для створення нових адаптивних сортів.

The question of choice of selection criterion when lines are grown in stress and non-stress environments is examined from a theoretical standpoint in this paper. Tolerance to stress is defined as the difference in yield between stress and non-stress environments, while mean productivity is the average yield in stress and non-stress environments. Equations are developed for the genetic correlations of tolerance and mean productivity with one another and with yields in stress and non-stress environments in terms of the ratio of genetic variances and the genetic correlations between yields in stress and non-stress environments. These equations show that selection for tolerance to stress will generally result in a reduced mean yield in non-stress environments and a decrease in mean productivity. Selection for mean productivity will generally increase mean yields in both stress and non-stress environments. Tolerance and mean productivity show negative genetic correlations whent he genetic variance in stress environmentsi s less than the genetic variance in non-stress environments. This result provides an explanation for the positive correlations often reported between regression coefficient stability and mean productivity; a line with high tolerance to stress normally would have a low regression coefficient stability and genetic variances in stress environments are generally lower than in non-stress enviornments.

В статті наведено дані щодо температури повітря та кількість атмосферних опадів від жовтня 2020 до вересня 2021 рр., а також зроблено їхній аналіз порівняно з середніми багаторічними даними ( за 30 років – з 1991 по 2020 рр.). Характерною особливістю цього сільськогосподарського року був сприятливий температурний фон, і достатня кількість опадів . Середня температура повітря сільськогосподарського року склала 9,2°С, тобто була лише на 0,4°С вище середньобагаторічної. При цьому, в холодний період (грудень–березень) сумарне перевищення температури склало 1,4°С, а за теплий період (квітень–вересень) сумарне зменшення на 1,9°С. Загальна кількість опадів за рік склала 655,7 мм, що на 69 мм перевищило середньобагаторічну позначку.

Genetic variability is the fundamental requirement for any plant breeding program to develop a superior cultivar. This study aimed to estimate the genetic variability and determine the correlation between the various quantitative characteristics of garlic accessions. The experiment was carried out in the Ezo-Otte area of the Chencha district in the Gamo highlands of southern Ethiopia and 28 garlic accessions were evaluated in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replicates. Various morphological descriptors were measured to evaluate the variability and correlation coefficients. The analysis of variance showed a highly significant variation for all characters, which indicates greater variability in the accession. High and moderate heritability in broad sense estimates were obtained for the majority of the traits examined. Days to maturity (28.09), bulb weight (22.33), and bulb diameter (equatorial) (21.33) showed higher genetic advance. The maximum value of the genetic progress as a percentage of the mean was observed in bulb yield, clove weight, bulb diameter (equatorial), and number of leaves. In addition, bulb diameter (equatorial), clove weight, bulb weight, and plant height were observed to be highly hereditary coupled with high genetic advance as a percentage of the mean, suggesting that they can be improved by direct selection. Coefficient analysis has shown that maximum attention should be paid to bulb diameter (equatorial), the number of cloves, bulb diameter (equatorial), bulb weight, plant height, and leaf length, as these traits also correlate positively and significantly with bulb yield.

Background The genus Allium (Family: Amaryllidaceae) is an economically important group of crops cultivated worldwide for their use as a vegetable and spices. Alliums are also well known for their nutraceutical properties. Among alliums, onion, garlic, leek, and chives cultivated worldwide. Despite their substantial economic and medicinal importance, the genome sequence of any of the Allium is not available, probably due to their large genome sizes. Recently evolved omics technologies are highly efficient and robust in elucidating molecular mechanisms of several complex life processes in plants. Omics technologies, such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, metagenomics, etc. have the potential to open new avenues in research and improvement of allium crops where genome sequence information is limited. A significant amount of data has been generated using these technologies for various Allium species; it will help in understanding the key traits in Allium crops such as flowering, bulb development, flavonoid biosynthesis, male sterility and stress tolerance at molecular and metabolite level. This information will ultimately assist us in speeding up the breeding in Allium crops. Method In the present review, major omics approaches, and their progress, as well as potential applications in Allium crops, could be discussed in detail. Results Here, we have discussed the recent progress made in Allium research using omics technologies such as genomics, transcriptomics, micro RNAs, proteomics, metabolomics, and metagenomics. These omics interventions have been used in alliums for marker discovery, the study of the biotic and abiotic stress response, male sterility, organ development, flavonoid and bulb color, micro RNA discovery, and microbiome associated with Allium crops. Further, we also emphasized the integrated use of these omics platforms for a better understanding of the complex molecular mechanisms to speed up the breeding programs for better cultivars. Conclusion All the information and literature provided in the present review throws light on the progress and potential of omics platforms in the research of Allium crops. We also mentioned a few research areas in Allium crops that need to be explored using omics technologies to get more insight. Overall, alliums are an under-studied group of plants, and thus, there is tremendous scope and need for research in Allium species.

According to the actual observations of weather conditions, which were held at the meteorological station Uman, by mathematical processing of data and its analysis on the basis of long-term values (avarage for 30 years - from 1961 till 1990), agrometeorological characteristics of 2019–2020 agricultural year was presented. A characteristic feature of this year was the increased temperature background, scarcity of rainfall in summer and air-soil drought, which began in June and continued until the end of summer. The average atmospheric temperature of the agricultural year amounted 10,8 °C, it was by 3,4 °C higher than the long-term average. In the cold season (December - March) sum excess was 23°C, and for the warm season (April - September) 11,7 °C. The total rainfall for the year – 415,4 mm, it is on 217,6 mm less than normal. Therefore, the long-term summer rainfall defi cit was a limiting factor for plants growth and development.

Genetic variability is the fundamental requirement for any plant breeding program to develop a superior cultivar. This study aimed to estimate the genetic variability and determine the correlation between the various quantitative characteristics of garlic accessions. The experiment was carried out in the Ezo-Otte area of the Chencha district in the Gamo highlands of southern Ethiopia and 28 garlic accessions were evaluated in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replicates. Various morphological descriptors were measured to evaluate the variability and correlation coefficients. The analysis of variance showed a highly significant variation for all characters, which indicates greater variability in the accession. High and moderate heritability in broad sense estimates were obtained for the majority of the traits examined. Days to maturity (28.09), bulb weight (22.33), and bulb diameter (equatorial) (21.33) showed higher genetic advance. The maximum value of the genetic progress as a percentage of the mean was observed in bulb yield, clove weight, bulb diameter (equatorial), and number of leaves. In addition, bulb diameter (equatorial), clove weight, bulb weight, and plant height were observed to be highly hereditary coupled with high genetic advance as a percentage of the mean, suggesting that they can be improved by direct selection. Coefficient analysis has shown that maximum attention should be paid to bulb diameter (equatorial), the number of cloves, bulb diameter (equatorial), bulb weight, plant height, and leaf length, as these traits also correlate positively and significantly with bulb yield.

Мета. Інтродуковані сорти сочевиці (Lens culinaris Medik.), країнами походження яких є Канада та Іспанія, оцінити за комплексом показників продуктивності й адаптивності, продемонстрованих ними в умовах південної частини Лісостепу України. Методи. Впродовж 2019–2021 рр. на Устимівській дослідній станції рослинництва Інституту рослинництва ім. В. Я. Юр’єва НААН (Полтавська обл., 49o18’21” N, 33o13’56” E) досліджували 26 нових зразків сочевиці, що походять з Іспанії та Канади. У фазі достигання бобів і насіння (BBCH 86–90) в польових та лабораторних умовах визначали показники врожайності, продуктивності, маси 1000 насінин, скоростиглості, висоти рослин та прикріплення нижніх бобів над рівнем ґрунту, кількості бобів і насіння на рослині, кількості насіння в бобі, параметри бобу. Результати. Виявлено значне варіювання врожайності нових зразків сочевиці – від 127 до 258 г/м2. Найбільшими її показниками відзначилися сорти ‘CDC Creenstar’ і ‘CDC Cherie’ з Канади та ‘Angela’ й ‘Amaya’ з Іспанії. Найпродуктивнішими під час досліджень виявилися ‘CDC Cherie’ (4,4 г), ‘CDC Creenstar’ (4,2 г), ‘CDC Greenland’ (4,5 г), ‘CDC Imigreen’ (4,4 г), ‘CDC QG-2’ (4,1 г), ‘CDC Impulse’ (4,0 г) – Канада; ‘Angela’ (4,6 г) – Іспанія, що зумовлено підвищеними кількістю насінин і масою 1000 зерен. Найбільшу кількість бобів на рослині зафіксовано в сортів ‘CDC Imax’ (64,4 шт.), ‘CDC Impala’ (65,5 шт.), ‘CDC QG-2’ (67,4 шт.), ‘CDC Creenstar’ (67,8 шт.) і ‘CDC Cherie’ (75,2 шт.) – Канада; ‘Amaya’ (64,8 шт.) та ‘Angela’ (75,1 шт.) – Іспанія. Майже всі досліджені зразки виявилися середньостиглими (81–85 діб) та оптимальними для зони Південного Лісостепу України. Найскоростиглішими (76 діб) були канадські сорти ‘CDC QG-2’, ‘CDC SB-2’, ‘CDC Impulse’, ‘CDC Imvincible’ та ‘CDC Impact’. На особливу увагу заслуговують ‘CDC Creenstar’, ‘CDC Greenland’, ‘CDC Impulse’ та ‘CDC Impact’ з Канади, а також ‘Angela’ з Іспанії, які поєднали в собі кілька цінних ознак. Висновки. Вищезазначені сорти є придатними для вирощування в зоні Південного Лісостепу України та можуть бути рекомендовані як джерела цінних ознак для практичного використання в селекції.

Purpose. Winter garlic is a heterogeneous biological material, and due to the complex of its diverse morphological and economically valuable features (in nature and culture), it is possible to select promising forms. Crop productivity is determined by climatic variables such as temperature and precipitation (the main abiotic environmental factors). Given the current trends in climate change, it is important to carry out analyzes aimed at describing and selecting plant genotypes with the best adaptive and productive properties. The investigation is focused on studying the adaptive and productive potential of promising samples of Allium sativum L. subsp. sagittatum together with the varieties on which the production of garlic in Ukraine is based, according to such characteristics as “bulb mass”, “yield” and “essential oil content”.Methods. During 2020–2022, in field conditions (Uman, 48°46¢N, 30°14¢E), five common and two newly created (‘Apollon’ and ‘Dzhovanna’) varieties of winter garlic were studied, as well as its promising variety samples No. 25 and 40. The obtained results were evaluated by the method of regression analysis to determine the stability and plasticity of the varieties.Results were conditionally divided into two groups according to parameters. The first group contained results that show the most important adaptive and productive characteristics (bulb mass, yield, plasticity, stability, selection value, adaptability). The second one included the parameters of the biochemical properties of the studied populations (essential oil), which in this case demonstrated significant influence and substantial stability. Most of the researched garlic populations are able to serve as effective material for obtaining new varieties. They can be classified as follows: ‘Khando’, ‘Dzhovanna’, ‘Apollon’, No. 25 and No. 40 – high yield, adaptability and breeding value; ‘Sofiivskyi’, ‘Apollon’ and No. 40 – technological quality (technical varieties); ‘Giovanna’ – food quality (table variety).Conclusions. As a result of the conducted research, the spectrum of adaptive variability of A. sativum L. subsp. sagittatum in terms of bulb weight and yield, and new promising samples which can be used as starting material for the creation of new adaptive varieties were discovered. | Мета. Часник озимий – гетерогенний біологічний матеріал, за комплексом багатоманітних морфологічних і господарсько-цінних ознак якого (у природі та культурі) можна здійснювати добір перспективних форм. Продуктивність культури визначають такі кліматичні змінні, як температура й опади (основні абіотичні фактори навколишнього середовища). З огляду на сучасні тенденції до зміни клімату важливо проводити аналізи, спрямовані на опис та відбір генотипів рослин з найкращими адаптивними й продуктивними властивостями. Дослідження зосереджено на вивченні адаптивно-продуктивного потенціалу перспективних зразків Allium sativum L. subsp. sagittatum сукупно з сортами, на яких базується виробництво часнику в Україні, за такими ознаками, як «маса цибулини», «врожайність» і «вміст ефірної олії».Методи. Впродовж 2020–2022 рр. у польових умовах (м. Умань, 48°46′N, 30°14′E) досліджували п’ять поширених і два новостворені (‘Аполлон’ і ‘Джованна’) сорти часнику озимого, а також його перспективні сортозразки № 25 і 40. Отримані результати оцінювали методом регресійного аналізу для визначення стабільності та пластичності сортів.Результати досліджень умовно поділяли на дві групи за параметрами. Перша містила результати, які показують найважливіші адаптивно-продуктивні характеристики (маса цибулини, врожайність, пластичність, стабільність, селекційна цінність, адаптивність). Друга – параметри біохімічних властивостей досліджуваних популяцій (ефірна олія), які у цьому разі демонстрували значний вплив та істотну стабільність. Більшість досліджених популяцій часнику здатні слугувати результативним матеріалом для одержання нових сортів. Їх можна класифікувати так: ‘Хандо’, ‘Джованна’, ‘Аполлон’, № 25 і № 40 – висока врожайність, адаптивність і селекційна цінність; ‘Софіївський’, ‘Аполлон’ і № 40 – технологічна якість (технічні сорти); ‘Джованна’ – харчова якість (столовий сорт).Висновки. У результаті проведених досліджень встановлено спектр адаптивної мінливості сортів A. sativum L. subsp. sagittatum за показниками маси цибулини та врожайності й виявлено нові перспективні зразки, що можуть бути використані як вихідний матеріал для створення нових адаптивних сортів.

Мета. Дослідити ступінь прояву послабленого стрілкування нестрілкуючих колекційних зразків часнику озимого різного еколого-географічного походження в умовах Правобережного Лісостепу України. Методи. Впродовж 2020–2022 рр. у польових умовах (м. Умань, 48°46’N, 30°14’E) вивчали дев’ять місцевих та інтродукованих зразків часнику озимого (№ 19, 27, 33, 43 і 44 з Черкаської обл., № 14 з Тернопільської обл., № 1 з Іспанії, № 16 із Франції, № 35 з Азербайджану). Під час розгляду отриманих результатів використовували загальноприйняті методи генетико-статис­тичного аналізу. Результати. Дослідженнями визначено, що у процесі утворення редукованої квітконосної стрілки маса цибулини знижувалася на 7,6–31,1% залежно від зразка, а врожайність – на 6,1–38,6%. Серед колекційних зразків за показником «маса цибулини» виділили № 16 і 44 – 57,22 і 52,24 г відповідно. Адаптивними за цією ознакою були зразки № 16, 19 і 44; інтенсивними – № 16, 27, 33 і 44, а стабільними – № 14, 19, 35 і 43. Виявлено помітну залежність між коефіцієнтом генетичної й екологічної варіації (CVG/CVA) для ознак «маса цибулини» і «врожайність», проте високої продуктивності досягнуто за умови співвідношення CVG/CVA ≥ 1. Як вихідний матеріал для подальшої селекції за ознакою «врожайність» виділено зразки: за адаптивністю й екологічною пластичністю – № 16 і 44; за стабільністю – № 19, 35 і 43 та інтенсивного типу – № 16, 27, 33 і 44, що забезпечують високу врожайність в оптимальних умовах культивування. Всі досліджувані зразки, які утворювали повітряні цибулини, характеризувалися дуже великою масою 1000 цибулин, у середньому – 1156,76 г. Максимальною масою 1000 шт. цибулин відзначилися № 16 і 27 – 1225,73 і 1638,0 г відповідно. Висновки. Отримані у Правобережному Лісостепу України дані слугуватимуть для розроблення схеми селекційних досліджень в умовах інтродукції. В результаті досліджень створено робочу колекцію вихідного матеріалу для селекції часнику класичним методом – клоновим добором. | Purpose. To investigate the degree of reduced scape of softneck collection specimens of winter garlic of different ecological and geographical origin in the conditions of the Right Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. During 2020–2022, nine local and introduced varieties of winter garlic (Nos. 19, 27, 33, 43 and 44 from Cherkasy) were stu­died in field conditions (Uman, 48°46’N, 30°14’E) region, No. 14 from Ternopil region, No. 1 from Spain, No. 16 from France and No. 35 from Azerbaijan). Generally accepted methods of genetico-statistical analysis were used to evaluate the garlic collection. Results. The research revealed that the weight of the bulb decreased by 7.6–31.1%, depending on the sample, and the yield by 6.1–38.6% during the formation of a reduced scape. Among the collection samples, according to the “bulb weight” indicator, Nos. 16 and 44 stood out – 57.22 and 52.24 g, respectively, of the sample. Adap­table for this feature were samples Nos. 16, 19 and 44; intensive – Nos. 16, 27, 33 and 44, and stable samples were Nos. 14, 19, 35 and 43. A significant relationship between the coefficient of genetic and environmental variation (CVG/CVA) for the traits “bulb weight” and “yield” was revealed. However, CVG/CVA ratio ≥ 1 is required to obtain high performance. Samples were selected as the initial material for further breeding based on the “yield” feature: according to adaptability and ecological plasticity – Nos. 16 and 44; according to stability – Nos. 19, 35 and 43 and samples of the intensive type – 16, 27, 33 and 44, which will ensure high yields in optimal cultivation conditions. All studied samples that formed air bulbs were characterized by a very large 1000 bulb weight, on average 1156.76 g. The maximum of 1000 bulb weight was characteristic for samples No. 16 and 27 – 1225.73 and 1638.0 g, respectively. Conclusions. The data obtained in the Right Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine will be used to develop a breeding research scheme under the conditions of introduction. As a result of the research, a working collection of raw material was created for the breeding of garlic by the classical method – clonal breeding.

Мета. Визначити вплив факторів вирощування на господарсько-цінні характеристики нових сортів пшениці м’якої озимої. Методи. Польовий, біохімічні методи аналізу та дисперсійний аналіз. Результати. Встановлено частки впливу умов зони вирощування, вегетаційного періоду року та генотипу на врожайність, вміст білка і клейковини в зерні сортів пшениці м’якої озимої. На врожайність досліджуваних сортів найбільше вплинули умови зони вирощування (73%). Так, у середньому за 2020–2021 рр. у зоні Лісостепу вона становила 6,23–8,39 т/га (максимальна); Полісся – 5,31–7,02; Степу – 5,16–6,63 т/га. Сорти, які в зоні Полісся показали низьку врожайність, у Степу характеризувалися вищою. Частка впливу умов зони вирощування на вміст білка в зерні досліджуваних сортів становила 49%; умов вегетаційного періоду року – 42%. Найбільший вміст білка у всіх зонах вирощування мав сорт ‘МАНДАРИН’ (14,5–16,4%). У Степу та Лісостепі найбільшу його кількість виявлено в зерні сортів ‘Тата Мата’ (13,6–14,3%), ‘Енеїда’ (13,6–14,3%) та ‘Новатор’ (14,2 і 13,2%), в Поліссі – у ‘Вагома’ та ‘Енеїда’ (по 13,4%). На вміст клейковини в зерні досліджуваних сортів умови зони вирощування впливали на 64%, вегетаційного періоду року – на 28%. Вплив генотипу на вміст білка і клейковини становив 5 і 4% відповідно. У всіх зонах вирощування найбільше клейковини містило зерно сортів ‘МАНДАРИН’ та ‘Енеїда’ (27,7–31,8 і 27,3–30,3%). У Степу та Лісостепі високий вміст клейковини мали сорти ‘Ілюзіон’ (28,4 та 30,8%) і ‘Тата Мата’ (27,8 та 29,8%). Висновки. Встановлено, що на врожайність сортів пшениці м’якої озимої суттєво впливали умови зони вирощування (73%) та взаємодія факторів зона × рік (21%). Частка впливу умов зони вирощування на вміст білка і клейковини становила 49 і 64% (суттєва), умов вегетаційного періоду року – 21 і 28%, а генотипу – 5 і 4% відповідно. Отже, для отримання високого врожаю пшениці м’якої озимої необхідно підбирати сорти, враховуючи істотний вплив умов ґрунтово-кліматичної зони вирощування на показники продуктивності.

Purpose. To determine the patterns of influence of gro­wing factors on the economically valuable characteristics of new soybean varieties. Methods. Field, biochemical methods, analysis of variance. Results. The rates of the influence of the growing zone, the conditions of the growing season of the year and the soybean variety on the yield, weight of 1000 seeds, the content of crude protein and oil, and protein and oil collection were determined. The greatest influence on the yield of the studied varieties had a growing zone – 55%. On average the maximum yield was obtained in Forest-steppe zone 2.48–3.58 t/ha, the lowest – in Steppe zone (1.33–1.89 t/ha) for 2017–2018. In the same period the weight of 1000 seeds on average was 125.1–169.9 g in the Steppe zone, in Forest-Steppe zone it was 130.2–207.8 g and 143.9–188.0 g in Fo­rrest zone. According to the results of analysis of variance, it was determined that the growing zone has the greatest influence on weight of 1000 seeds – 31%, variety – 21% and conditions of the growing season of the year – 13%. The main characteristics of soybean quality are the content of crude protein and oil in seeds. The highest level of crude protein was observed in soybean variety in Forest-Steppe zone – 37.5–44.0%. In Forrest zone, the crude protein content was 34.4–41.7%, in the Steppe zone 35.4–40.1%. The maximum level of this characteristic was observed in variety ‘NS Diyana’ – 44.0% in Forest-Steppe zone, in Forrest zone – in the variety ‘Alexa’ 41.7%, in Steppe zone – in variety ‘NS Diyana’ 40.1%. Thus, the growing zone (31%) and variety (25%) had the greatest influence on the content of crude protein; the interaction of factors (variety and growing zone) affected 17%. The average oil content for 2017‑2018 ranges from 19.8 to 24.2%. High oil content was noted in ‘Adsoy’ variety in Forrest and Forest-Steppe zones, 24.2 and 22.6%, respectively, and ‘Azimut’ – 23.8% in Steppe zone. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the growing zone to a greater extent affected the oil content in soybean seeds by 25%, variety – 21%, and the interaction of factors of the variety and gro­wing zone by 21%. Conclusions. According to the results of multifactor analysis of variance, it was determined that the growing zone had the greatest influence on the studied parameters. It was found that the rate of the influence of gro­wing zone of soybean varieties is 25–55%, depending on the studied characteristic. It was determined that the influence of the variety was 4–25%, the conditions of the growing season affected by 1–26%.

Wheat (<i>Triticum aestivum</i> L.) is one of the main staple foods worldwide. Wide precise sowing (Wps) is a sowing method believed to produce the highest winter wheat grain yields; however, the reasons for its high yields and its effect on quality traits have not been effectively studied. Hence, a two-year field experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of three sowing methods, dibbling (Db), drilling (Dr), and Wps and seed rates (112.5 kg ha⁻¹, 150 kg ha⁻¹, 187.5 kg ha⁻¹, and 225 kg ha⁻¹) on grain yield and the quality of winter wheat. Wps, Dr, and Db produced statistically similar results in terms of the grain yield and most of the quality traits measured. The grain yield increased significantly with the increasing rate, the highest being 7488.89 kg ha⁻¹ at a seed rate of 225 kg ha⁻¹. The total protein, albumin, and globulin were not affected by the sowing methods, but prolamin and glutelin were affected by the Dr and Wps, respectively. The total starch in both years, and the amylose and amylopectin in the first year, were affected only by the seed rates, with 60.11%, 23.2%, 38.63%, or higher values. The results indicated that for the wheat yield and quality traits, Wps, Dr and Db can mostly be used interchangeably. For the protein, starch, and grain yield, the suitable seed rates were 112.5 kg ha⁻¹, 150 kg ha⁻¹, and 225 kg ha⁻¹, respectively.

Purpose. To determine the growing factors impact the economically valuable characteristics of new soft winter wheat varieties.Methods. Field, biochemical methods, ANOVA.Results. The influence of the growing zone, the growing season conditions and the genotype of the soft winter wheat varieties on yield, protein and gluten content were determined. The conditions of the growing zone have the greatest influence on studied varieties yield – 73%. On average, for 2020–2021, the maximum yield was obtained in the Forest-Steppe zone – 6.23–8.39 t/ha. In the Forest zone, the yield of studied soft winter wheat varieties was 5.31–7.02 t/ha. For the Steppe zone, the yield was within 5.16–6.63 t/ha. It was determined that varieties which showed low yield in the Forrest zone were characterized by higher yield in the Steppe zone. It was found that the growing zone (49%) and growing season (42%) conditions have the greatest effect on the protein content in grain of studied varieties. It was determined that variety ‘MANDARIN’ was characterized by the highest protein content in all growing zones (14.5–16.4%). In the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones, high protein content was identified in grain of wheat varieties ‘Tata Mata’ (13.6–14.3%), ‘Eneida’ (13.6–14.3%) and ‘Novator’ (14.2 and 13.2%), in the Forest zone – in grain of varieties ‘Vahoma’ and ‘Eneida’ – 13.4% each. It was found that the growing zone conditions impacted gluten content in grain of studied wheat varieties by 64%, the influence of the growing season conditions was 28%. The effect of variety genotype on protein and gluten content was 5 and 4%, respectively. The grain of soft winter wheat varieties ‘MANDARIN’ and ‘Eneida’ contained the largest amount of gluten in all growing zones (27.7–31.8% and 27.3–30.3%). For the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones, a high gluten content was found in grains of varieties ‘Illusion’ (28.4 and 30.8%) and ‘Tata Mata’ (27.8 and 29.8%).Conclusions. It was found that growing zone conditions of soft winter wheat varieties (73%) and the interaction of factors zone × year (21%) impacted the yield significantly. The growing zone conditions (49 and 64%), growing season conditions (21 and 28%) and genotype of variety (5 and 4%, respectively) had a significant influence on protein and gluten content. Therefore, a significant influence of growing zone conditions on the productivity indicators of soft winter wheat determines the need to select varieties in order to obtain a high yield, taking into account the soil and climatic zone | Мета. Частка впливу умов зони вирощування на вміст білка і клейковини становила 49 і 64% (суттєва), умов вегетаційного періоду року – 21 і 28%, а генотипу – 5 і 4% відповідно. Отже, для отримання високого врожаю пшениці м’якої озимої необхідно підбирати сорти, враховуючи істотний вплив умов ґрунтово-кліматичної зони вирощування на показники продуктивності.

Purpose. To determine the patterns of influence of gro­wing factors on the economically valuable characteristics of new soybean varieties.Methods. Field, biochemical methods, analysis of variance.Results. The rates of the influence of the growing zone, the conditions of the growing season of the year and the soybean variety on the yield, weight of 1000 seeds, the content of crude protein and oil, and protein and oil collection were determined. The greatest influence on the yield of the studied varieties had a growing zone – 55%. On average the maximum yield was obtained in Forest-steppe zone 2.48–3.58 t/ha, the lowest – in Steppe zone (1.33–1.89 t/ha) for 2017–2018. In the same period the weight of 1000 seeds on average was 125.1–169.9 g in the Steppe zone, in Forest-Steppe zone it was 130.2–207.8 g and 143.9–188.0 g in Fo­rrest zone. According to the results of analysis of variance, it was determined that the growing zone has the greatest influence on weight of 1000 seeds – 31%, variety – 21% and conditions of the growing season of the year – 13%. The main characteristics of soybean quality are the content of crude protein and oil in seeds. The highest level of crude protein was observed in soybean variety in Forest-Steppe zone – 37.5–44.0%. In Forrest zone, the crude protein content was 34.4–41.7%, in the Steppe zone 35.4–40.1%. The maximum level of this characteristic was observed in variety ‘NS Diyana’ – 44.0% in Forest-Steppe zone, in Forrest zone – in the variety ‘Alexa’ 41.7%, in Steppe zone – in variety ‘NS Diyana’ 40.1%. Thus, the growing zone (31%) and variety (25%) had the greatest influence on the content of crude protein; the interaction of factors (variety and growing zone) affected 17%. The average oil content for 2017‑2018 ranges from 19.8 to 24.2%. High oil content was noted in ‘Adsoy’ variety in Forrest and Forest-Steppe zones, 24.2 and 22.6%, respectively, and ‘Azimut’ – 23.8% in Steppe zone. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the growing zone to a greater extent affected the oil content in soybean seeds by 25%, variety – 21%, and the interaction of factors of the variety and gro­wing zone by 21%.Conclusions. According to the results of multifactor analysis of variance, it was determined that the growing zone had the greatest influence on the studied parameters. It was found that the rate of the influence of gro­wing zone of soybean varieties is 25–55%, depending on the studied characteristic. It was determined that the influence of the variety was 4–25%, the conditions of the growing season affected by 1–26%. | Цель. Установить закономерности влияния факторов выращивания на хозяйственно-ценные характеристики новых сортов сои.Методы. Полевой, биохимические методы анализа, дисперсионный анализ.Результаты. Определены доли влияния зоны выращивания, условий вегетационного периода года и сорта сои на урожайность, массу 1000 семян, содержание сырого протеина и масла, сбора белка и масла. Наибольшее влияние на показатель урожайности исследуемых сортов имела зона выращивания – 55%. В среднем за 2017–2018 гг. максимальная урожайность получена в зоне Лесостепи – 2,48–3,58 т/га, самая низкая – в зоне Степи 1,33–1,89 т/га. Значение показателя массы 1000 семян в среднем за 2017–2018 гг. составляют в зоне Степи – 125,1–169,9 г, в Лесостепи – 130,2–207,8 г и 143,9–188,0 г в зоне Полесья. По результатам дисперсионного анализа было определено, что на массу 1000 семян наибольшее влияние имела зона выращивания – 31%, меньшее влияние оказывал сорт – 21% и условия вегетационного периода года – 13%. Основные показатели качества сои культурной – содержание сырого протеина и масла в семенах. Наибольшие значения содержания сырого протеина отмечено в зоне Лесостепи – 37,5–44,0%. В зоне Полесья содержание сырого протеина составило 34,4–41,7%, в зоне Степи – 35,4–40,1%. Максимальные значения этого показателя были отмечены у сорта ‘НС Дияна’ – 44,0% в зоне Лесостепи, в зоне Полесья – у сорта ‘Алекса’ – 41,7%, в степной зоне ‘НС Дияна’ – 40,1%. Таким образом, наибольшее влияние на содержания сырого протеина имел фактор зоны выращивания (31%) и сорт (25%), взаимодействие факторов сорта и зоны выращивания влияло на 17%. Содержание масла в среднем за 2017–2018 гг. составляло от 19,8 до 24,2%. Высокое содержание масла было отмечено у сорта ‘Адсой’ в зоне Полесья и Лесостепи – 24,2 и 22,6%, соответственно, а также у сорта ‘Азимут’ – 23,8% в степной зоне. По результатам дисперсионного анализа было определено, что на показатель содержания масла в семенах сои больше всего влияли зона выращивания на 25%, сорт – 21%, и взаимодействие факторов сорта и зоны выращивания на 21%.Выводы. Наибольшее влияние на исследуемые показатели имела зона выращивания. Определено, что доля влияния зоны выращивания сортов сои составляет 25–55% в зависимости от исследуемого показателя. Найвищий вміст олії було відмічено у насінні сорту ‘Адсой’ в зоні Полісся та Лісостепу – 24,2 та 22,6%, відповідно, а також у сорту ‘Азимут’ – 23,8% в степовій зоні. Використання дисперсійного аналізу дозволило встановити, що на вміст олії в насінні сої найбільше впливали фактор зони вирощування – його вплив становив 25%, вклад фактору належності до певного сорту – 21%, взаємодія факторів «сорт» та «зона вирощування» впливала на 21%.Висновки. Найбільший вплив на досліджувані показники чинив фактор зони вирощування. Визначено, що частка впливу фактора зони вирощування сортів сої на показники врожайності, маси 1000 насінин, умісту сирого протеїну та олії, збору білка та олії з гектара становила 25–55%. Визначено, що частка впливу фактору сорту становила 4–25%, умови вегетаційного періоду року впливали на 1–26%.

Enhancing yield potential to meet the population explosion around the world and maintaining grain quality in wheat plants under climate change are crucial for food security and human nutrition. Global warming resulting from greenhouse effect has led to more frequent occurrence of extreme climatic events. Elevated atmospheric CO₂ concentration (eCO₂) along with rising temperature has a huge impact on ecosystems, agriculture and human health. There are numerous studies investigating the eCO₂ and heatwaves effects on wheat growth and productivity, and the mechanisms behind. This review outlines the state-of-the-art knowledge regarding the effects of eCO₂ and heat stress, individually and combined, on grain yield and grain quality in wheat crop. Strategies to enhance the resilience of wheat to future warmer and CO₂-enriched environment are discussed.

Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. subsp. durum) is one of the major crops in the Mediterranean basin, where water stress often occurs during grain filling which represents a critical stage for the synthesis and accumulation of storage proteins (gliadins and glutenins). The aim of the study is to evaluate, by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE SDS-PAGE), the storage proteins composition of two durum wheat cultivars (Ciccio and Svevo) cultivated in a growth chamber under two different water regimes (control and water deficit). At milk stage and physiological maturity, gluten proteins have been extracted and separated by 2DE SDS-PAGE. The analysis of the gels was performed by the software ImageMaster 2D Platinum (Amersham). The results showed differences in protein expression within the different gel regions between water regimes and cultivars; under water deficit the rate of protein accumulation was faster for all the protein regions, either at milk and physiological stage. Protein accumulation within high molecular weight (H) region resulted faster in Ciccio than in Svevo mainly in the control treatment. In the low molecular weight region between 48 and 35 kDa (L 48-35), the cultivar Ciccio showed a higher protein expression than Svevo. Furthermore under water deficit a marked increase in H region volume and a decrease in the L 48-35 region was observed only for Svevo; instead in Ciccio no change was observed showing this cultivar a greater stability on changing water regime. Further studies by the use of mass spectrometry are necessary to identify specific peptides relative to drought stress during grain filling as well as to investigate the relationships with technological quality.

Проаналізувати таксономічне та сортове різноманіття колекції пряних рослин Сирецького дендрологічного парку загальнодержавного значення, оцінити їхні декоративні якості та визначити напрями використання в ландшафтному дизайні. Методи. Предмет дослідження – вирощувані на території Сирецького дендропарку пряні рослини, що є частиною колекції рослин відкритого ґрунту. Види та сорти цієї групи рослин інтродуковано в дендропарк у період з 1949-го по 2021 р. У процесі досліджень використовували методи аналізу та синтезу, порівняння й узагальнення інформаційних даних. Результати. Встановлено, що колекція пряних рослин Сирецького дендропарку налічує 69 таксономічних одиниць 33 родів, які об’єднують 12 родин. Серед них 52 види та 25 культиварів. Найбільше представників мають родини Lamia€ceae – 32 таксони, Amaryllidaceae – 11 таксонів та Asteraceae – 9 таксонів. Життєві форми пряних рослин представлені деревними (19 таксонів) та трав’яними рослинами (50 таксонів, з яких 10 є однорічниками, 2 – дворічниками, 38 – багаторічниками). Традиційні сфери застосування пряних рослин – харчова, лікарська (фармакологія) та парфумерна. Також їхні декоративні сорти і культивари використовують для створення ландшафтних композицій. Зокрема на території Сирецького дендропарку пряні рослини є композиційною основою тематичного «Саду пряно-ароматичних рослин», їх використовують як елементи класичних клумб і композицій літників, тематичних композицій (національні й аптекарські сади, декоративні городи), альпійських гірок і рокаріїв тощо. Висновки. Багаторічний досвід озеленення та створення квітникових композицій у Сирецькому дендрологічному парку свідчить, що пряні рослини є важливим елементом у всіх типах апробованих декоративних композицій. Встановлено, що із 69 таксонів пряних рослин, які ростуть у колекційних насадженнях Сирецького дендропарку, 51 мають декоративні якості та використовуються як декоративно-квіткові й декоративно-листяні види. Таксономічне та сортове різноманіття пряних рослин має значний потенціал для селекційної роботи та створення високодекоративних ландшафтних композицій різного призначення. Завдяки розмаїттю життєвих форм та біоморфологічним особливостям пряні рослини доцільно використовувати в різних типах насаджень для декоративного садівництва та ландшафтного дизайну.

To analyze the taxonomic and varietal diversity of the collection of spicy plants of the Syrets Arboretum, evaluate their decorative qualities and determine the directions of use in landscape design. Methods. The subject of the study is spicy plants grown on the territory of the Syrets Arboretum, which are a part of the collection of open ground plants. The species and varieties of this group of plants were introduced in the arboretum from 1949 to 2021. In the process of research, methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison and generalization of information were used. Results. It has been established that the collection of spicy plants of the Syrets Arboretum includes 69 taxa belonging to 33 gene­ra, 12 families.  There are 52 species and 25 cultivars among them. The largest number of representatives are in the families Lamiaˆceae – 32 taxa, Amaryllidaceae – 11 taxa and Aste­raceae – 9 taxa. The life forms of spicy plants are represented by woody (19 taxa) and herbal plants (50 taxa, of which 10 annual, 2 biennial, and 38 perennial forms). The traditional fields of application of spicy plants are food, medicine (pharmacology) and perfumery. In addition, their decorative varieties and cultivars are used to create landscape compositions. In particular, on the territory of the Syrets Arboretum, spicy plants are the compositional basis of the thematic “garden of spicy aromatic plants”, they are used as elements of classic flower beds and summer compositions, thematic compositions (national and pharmacy gardens, vegetable flower beds), alpine slides and rocky gardens, etc. Conclusions. Many years of experience in landscape design and creation of floral arrangements in the Syrets Arboretum showes that spicy plants are an important element in all types of tested decorative compositions. It is revealed that out of 69 spicy plants that grow on collectible plantings of the Sirets Arboretum, 51 have decorative qualities and are used as decorative-floral and decorative-deciduous species. The taxonomic and varietal variety of spicy plants has considerable potential for breeding work and creation of highly decorative landscape compositions of various purposes. Due to the availability of different life forms and biomorphological features, it is advi­sable to use spicy plants in different types of plantations for decorative gardening and landscape design.
