State and prospects of growing for Triticale crop at the territory of leading states of the world are highlighted across space and time. Observing the trend of changes in planting acreage and the product yield of wheat and rye hybrids, their popularity in agrarian and industrial fields of a whole range of countries in Asia, Northern and Southern America, Australia, a Ukrainian manufacturer is invited to consider and reasonably assess this crop and thus list in the composition of planted acreage the national nowadays varieties of triticale as an essential or strategic system component.

The results of evaluation and selection of breeding material of mixed germ-plasm corn for early ripeness among self-pollinated families S4 by the length of the «sprouting–flowering of 50% of ears» period are given. A signifi cant infl uence of weather conditions during the years of study on the length of this indicator was determined. Response of studied corn test-crosses on growing conditions are described. Self-pollinated families DK22282111, DK28211111, DK21511111, DK20192321, DK26143111 were singled out which had a high tolerance to growing conditions and stable «sprouting–flowering of 50% of ears» period.

The effect of sowing time on realization of the natural productivity potential of modern soft winter wheat varieties was studied. It is established that the use of current agricultural technologies in a context of climate change has caused shift of calendar sowing terms to the second half of the optimal terms comparing with earlier cultivated varieties. In subzones of Kirovohrad and Bila Tserkva state variety testing stations the highest yield of winter wheat is formed in case of sowing on September 20–30, but the optimum for Kirovohrad station fall on September 30, Bila Tserkva station – on September 20 and 30. Sowing in earlier or later time leads to decreasing yields, especially of Vynnychanka, Smuhlyanka, Zolotokolosa and Tripilska varieties. Bogdana and Kuialnyk varieties are the most adaptive to sowing time under agroecological conditions of Kirovohrad state variety testing station.

У досліді вивчали формування селекційних індексів сортів пшениці озимої в різних умовах середовища в роки з ранньою та пізньою весняною вегетацією. Рання або пізня вегетація – це стресовий чинник для генотипу, і, безумовно, в технології селекційного процесу важливо знати, як впливають стресові чинники на формування та мінливість селекційних індексів. За результатами досліджень встановлено, що в стресових умовах середовища під час доборів на потенціал урожаю на ранніх етапах селекції можна використовувати такі селекційні індекси, як збиральний та індекс лінійної щільності колосу, які можуть бути використані як маркерні ознаки.

The article highlights the research results of stability and plasticity of soft winter wheat varieties under the conditions of Forest Steppe of Ukraine. The article determines action of abiotic and biotic factors of a certain environment on genotype and bases the degree of their influence on the growth, development, yield and quality of soft winter wheat. The obtained result allows recommending varieties of soft winter wheat: Lira odeska, Tonatsiya, Arktis, Etela, for producers as the most suitable varieties for intensive cultivation technologies in Forest Steppe zone of Ukraine.

The results obtained during the study of resistance of promising gooseberry varieties to Septoria leaf spot in the Western Forest-Steppe of Ukraine are described. Variety samples were divided into groups by the resistance to disease. Among them none was found with complete field resistance. Sladkiy proved to be highly resistant variety. Resistance above the average is typical for Berill, Grushenka, Kooperator, Lehin, Malakhit, Rodnik, Shennon varieties. Hrossulyar, Kamenyar, Karat, Knyazhych, Kolobok, Krasnoslavyanskiy, Laskovyi, Mazershkota, Russkiy, Svityaz, Severnyi kapitan are varieties of average resistance to Septoria leaf spot. Zyelyonyi dozhd, Zlatogor, Invikta, Kubanyets, Nesluhivskyi, Slivovyi are characterized as low resistant ones.

Peculiarities of the formation of the collection of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) varieties with reference characteristics are considered. Methodological requirements for the formation, grouping, maintenance, use and updating of the examples varieties collection for identifi cation of all lettuce varieties were scientifi cally grounded. Varieties with relevant morphological characteristics and notes of their expressions for vegetative and generative organs of lettuce plants were identifi ed. The use of formed examples varieties collection for the table of characteristics in the Guidelines for the conduct of tests for distinctness, uniformity and stability for lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) varieties was confi rmed.

To obtain a high-quality source material for breeding new varieties of garden pea studied biochemical and technological properties of 450 sample grades collection. As a result, selected varieties, sources that had green peas in a high content of individual chemicals and combine incorporates several of these substances. These varieties have different duration of the growing season. Among them, identified those with green peas excessive ripeness not for a long time. Such quality varieties are especially important because provides over a longer period of receipt of a high quality green peas in a cannery. In addition, the collection highlighted garden pea varieties of high quality seed in biological maturity. The selected varieties were included in the selection process and, based on a number of new varieties garden pea, providing conveyor receipt green peas for processing plants.
