Dynamics of biomass of stoneworts (Chara spp.) in different depths and localities with different trophic condition of water from the littoral region in Lake Ohrid
2003
Trajanovska, S. (Hidrobioloski zavod, Ohrid (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia))
In order to determine the dynamic of biomass of stoneworts from Lake Ohrid as a function of the trophic state of the water, we collected samples from four different localities. The localities Sveti Stefan and Mazija, were characterized by oligotrophic state of the water, while the other two Grasnica and Daljan were characterized by eutrophic-mezotrophic water quality. The stoneworts samples were taken from 4-5 different depths from each investigated locality. The results of our investigations have shown that higher trophic level of the water from the littoral region of the localities Grasnica and Daljan (especially in the points of inflow of river Grasnica and Daljan) decreases the amount in stoneworts biomass compared with the biomass of stoneworts collected from the first two localities that characterizes oligotrophic character of the water.

In the paper we presented the effort to collect the recent data clarifying eutrophication as one of the commonest problems of freshwater. The paper includes experience of researchers related to causes of onset and effects of eutrophicational processes on trophic level increase in reservoirs.

The aim of this work is to present the trophic state of water at the pelagic zone of lake Prespa, reviewing the result of defined parameters of physico-chemical and algological aspect. Investigations are done according to standard limnological methods and the samples for analysis were collected from one vertical profile (0, 5, 10 and 15 m) monthly during 2008 year. Water categorization, on the basis of gathered data from analyses of the sampling localities was done according to the OECD-regulations, positive law regulations of the Republic of Macedonia and Nürnberg classification system. Data from this investigating period point out that this area of the lake Prespa is by great influence of the anthropogenic factor and intensive eutrophication.

According to the Programme of systematic examination of surface water quality of the Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia the examinations of Medjuvrsje water reservoir have been carried out during October 2002 and August 2003. The examinations have been carried out at the dam, in central part and at the entrance of the water reservoir, on three depths. This paper shows the results on phytoplankton composition, chemicophysical properties and the trophic status of water reservoir. The qualitative analysis of the phytoplankton shows the presence of 96 taxa from six divisions of algae. Following the standard of Swedish Agency for Environmental Protection, the high concentrations of primary nutrients belong to the fifth class, by the categorization. According to OECD classification trophic status of water reservoir may be characterized as eutrophic and hypereutrophic.

Water quality studies of the Danube river in Belgrade region (Serbia and Montenegro) were performed at five locations, in June and September, 2003. Results of the qualitative, quantitative and saprobiological analyses of plankton and macrozoobenthic communities were used for the water quality assessment and the categorization of the watercourse examined. The bioindicator analysis points to the presence of mild organic pollution, water quality varying between the 2nd and 3rd class.

The paper presents the results of investigation of benthic algae of the river Rasina. During April, 2001, it was determined 110 algal taxa from the divisions Cyanophyta, Bacillariophyta and Chlorophyta, which indicate the high biodiversity of algae in this river. With 97 algal taxa, Bacillariophyta is dominant. The community of benthic algae is typical for this kind of aquatic ecosystem during the spring period. Great number of algal bioindicators of highly polluted water indicates the presence of high concentration of organic compounds in this aquatic ecosystem.

The examined period is characterized by small floristic variety and well advanced eutrophication process. By the phytoplankton qualitative analysis it has been noted the domination of Bacillariophyta algal division. The values of density on phytoplankton population and their biomass show the domination of bluegreen algae, before each other, that of the species Gomphosphaeria lacustris Chod. As the consequence of the eutrophication, these algae develop intensively, up to the degree of water blossoming. The very high concentrations of the primary and secondary nutrients have also been noted. The trophic status of the reservoir on the basis of OECD classification can be defined as eutrophic.

The paper presents the results of the water quality studies of the Sava river in Belgrade region (Serbia and Montenegro). The investigations were performed in June and September, 2003. The sampling area covered five locations along the 61.5 km of the river course. Studies included the qualitative, quantitative and saprobiological investigations of plankton and macrozoobenthic communities. The bioindicator analysis points to the presence of mild organic pollution indicating thus 2nd and 3rd-2nd class of water quality.

Nemes, K. | Jovanovic, I. | Bokorov, M. | Matavulj, M.(Prirodno-matematicki fakultet, Novi Sad (Serbia and Montenegro). Departman za biologiju i ekologiju)
In this paper we have presented the results of the investigations of phytoplankton carried out in the river Old Begey, from April 2003 till February 2004. The presence of 116 algal taxa of which 10 Cyanobacteria, 20 Euglenophyta, 50 Bacillariophyceae, 3 Chrysophyceae, 30 Chlorophyta and 3 Dinophyta was recorded. In the river Old Begey some rarer brackish species Entomoneis alata and Bacillaria paradoxa have also been found. The index of saprobity given on the basis of Pantle-Buck method indicated that the quality of water of the river Old begey belonged to beta-alfa-mesosaprobic category.
