The paper presents results of microbiological quality of three drinking water sources – Ratno ostrvo, Petrovaradinska ada and Strand. The following analyses were carried out in 2010: total count of aerobic mesophilic bacteria at 37 deg C, count of organotrophs (categorization according to Kohl), aerobic facultative organotrophs, lipolytic and hydrocarbon oxidizing bacteria. Organotrophic count was determined on low nutritive R2A medium. Enzymatic activity of water was also determined and water was categorized according to index of phosphatase activity (IFA).

Constant and highly productive agricultural productivity in the last decades has a tightly connected to irrigation. It is necessary to monitor the irrigation water quality in order to prevent or mitigate negative consequences on yield, soil and irrigation equipment. Besides the major waterways, the detailed canal network has great potential as a water resource. Peculiarities of this kind of water resources require monitoring of water suitability. During a three-year period of research, water was sampled on some localities in Backa and Banat (Serbia). The results of the research indicate that the water quality does not meet the demands proposed by the classifications. This proves the fact that during the irrigation period, it is necessary to monitor the irrigation water quality.

Serbia has a large number of various and for the application convenient mineral and spring waters for using. It is wide base that makes possible to develop practically everything that is abroad known for the application and perspectively possible. Serbia has well developed bottle industry of high quality mineral waters. Present and future seek, and Serbia has great chances to develop a new program production the world highest quality oligomineral waters, with the exclusive chemical composition, ecological safety and origin, suitable for everyday use drink and making food. In that aspect have been finished first completely new experiments and obtained the world significant first results, that are promising new program of production food naturally enriched with essential microelements in the most suitable chemical form for physiology of nutrition. The main aim in research theory and particularly practical application of marketing concept in increment sale of the mineral waters, is to analyze them in details and to use them as the basis for the suggestion of the appropriate measures and activities to help the manufacturer of the mineral waters, to incorporate the marketing concept as the way of business organizational and business strategy.

Novi Sad is one of the major consumers of water in the Republic of Serbia. This is why the presence of safe and abundant sources of raw dringing water has been of utmost importance for this city which is expanding urbanistically and demografically. This paper presents major data related, above all, to the capacity of the present water sources in Novi Sad, as well as the results of the analyses considering the possibilities for the expansion of source capacity. Furthermore, the text considers the problem of numerous pollutants which have been polluting water sources and offers possible measures for their efficient protection.

Arsenic is inorganic spread out in nature. Toxicity of arsenic is different, depending on its form. However, current international and Serbian legislation in drinking water regulate maximum allowed concentration of 0.010 mg/l (of total arsenic), regardless of its form. Concentration of total arsenic in water of springs of mountain Avala (Serbia) is higher than 0.010 mg/l. This paper present determination of inorganic arsenic in drinking water of spring Sakinac (Avala), also determination which form is more represented, relation of As(III) and As(V) and implementation of legislation. We used stripping voltametry method and gain value of total arsenic-62.87 microgram/l, in which 3.97 microgram/l is As(III) and residue of 58.90 microgram/l is As(V). It is obvious that value of 62.87 microgram/l is higher than MAL, but the most abundant arsenic form is less toxic, so the question is whether the water from spring Sakinac can or cannot be used.

The paper shows available water resources potential of karsts spring waters of Carpatho-Balkan region of east Serbia. Basic elements of water balance are also given, as well as quantitative indicators of low flows. Karsts spring yield is compared to the domicile waters of Serbia. We can also read certain comments and see an estimation maximum usage of these karsts waters.

In the paper is presented the microbiological quality of groundwater of drinking water supply Strand which is important water source for the city of Novi Sad (Serbia). The examinations were carried out using high and low nutritive media. The count of physiological groups, that are relevant from the aspect of organic pollution and phosphatase activity were also monitored. The results indicate potential organical pollution and need for protection of the water supply Strand.

The paper analyses application of different methods for removal of the high content of ammonia from groundwater sources of the Grocka municipality neighborhoods Umcari and Pudarci. According to the relevant data from this field method, biochemical oxidation with the Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter bacteria was used. Parameters of biological processes of the ammonia oxidation were defined on the pilot model located at the groundwater source. On the pilot model, consisting of a trickling filter and a fast gravel filter, quantitative oxidation NH4 to NO3 was done. Purification plant was designed with parameters of the pilot model, with minimal investment and exploitation expenses, without undesired side products and ecological risks characteristic for procedure of chemical oxidation of ammonia, which recommends this procedure as the optimal solution.

In the frame of the project Water Supplying of the Cities and Protection of the Groundwater Quality in the Velika Morava Valley, was obtained the analysis of potential polluters of groundwater source of city Smederevska Palanka - Trnovce. This paper presents results of water physical, chemical and microbiological characteristics of soil. According to the results of research and way of usage of the soil, it was concluded that agricultural production does not have negative influence on quality of the groundwater source.

This is the presentation of the content of heavy metals (Pb, Cd and Zn) originating from the several representative locations of the natural water springs in the Northern Kosovo and Metohija . For the determination of presence and content of Pb, Cd and Zn in these spring waters the Potentiometric stripping analysis (PSA) method was used as a high-sensitive and selective electroanalytical technique.
