Investigation of cyprinid fish species spawning grounds in Lake Ohrid
2003
Talevski, T. | Talevska, M. (Hidrobioloski zavod, Ohrid (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia))
In this paper are presented investigation of cyprinid fish spawning grounds in Lake Ohrid. Keeping the optimum population condition of particular fish species is possibly only if we care to study and sustain fish spawning grounds.

2003
Damjanovic, M. | Babic-Mladenovic, M. (Institut za vodoprivredu Jaroslav Cerni, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro))
Regular monitoring of water quality of the Danube river in the backwater zone includes analysis of the sediment. It is well known that sediment is a sink place for the non degradable compounds and it reveales the long term water quality status in the reservoir. This paper presents the general results on the Iron Gate reservoir siltation. as well as some data regarding pollution level, based on investigations carried in the period of 2001-2002. The investigations included organic load of the sediment, heavy metals and organic pollutants content. The degree of pollution is evaluated on the basis of various criteria, also compared to results of previous case studies.

2003
Nikic, Z. (Univerzitet u Beogradu, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro). Sumarski fakultet)
The fenced hunting area "Crni Lug" near Progar (Serbia, Serbia&Montenegro), included swamp tracts that have been drying. A natural environment of free game has changed over the last fifteen years. The unfavourable hydrological trend is explained by the antropogenic factor active in the hunting area and beyond it. The prevailing hydrogeological situation is interpreted and steps for rehabilitation of marshes are recommended. One of the emphsized goals is the supply of good water for animals throughout the year. Favourable hydrogeology and construction of adequate facilities in the hunting area will suffice for the revival of all activities related to water: flood control, agriculture, water supply, and hunting as a particularly profitable activity.

2003
Vukanic, D. | Vukanic, V. (Institut za biologiju mora, Kotor (Serbia and Montenegro))
Available data on zooplakton research in Adriatic sea show that coastal and open waters of south Adriatic are the zone of most available and richest area in Adriatic sea. Shallow waters along the shore and the Boka Kotorska Bay are characterized by a monotony of faunistic content, while, by contrast, high values of biomass are caused by abundance of a small number of estuary-neritic species. Open waters of South Adriatic are characterized by holoplankton, while waters of Boka Kotorska Bay are characterized by meroplankton. Zooplankton of open sea shows a high diversity of fauna but a small biomass in part of open water above the geatest depths, and significantly high values of biomass in epipelagic waters above the continental shelf.

2003
Comic, Lj. (Prirodno-matematicki fakultet, Kragujevac (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Curcic, S. | Ostojic, A. | Milosevic, S.
Comparative analysis of results obtained in hydrobiological research conducted to date indicates that relatively few water reservoirs in Serbia have been subjected to complex hydrobiological investigations. Apart from the fact that hydrobiological investigations are now performed on only a small number of water reservoirs in Serbia, they are moreover inadequately coordinated, which is especially evident in differences of procedural approaches employed. With adoption of the principles of modern limnology and wider use of new criteria for water classification (m WQI for instance), the current state of hydrobiological research constitutes a basic for the development of comprehensive program of planned continuous studies of water reservoirs in Serbia resulting in their rational and successful management.

2003
Lokoska, L. (Hidrobioloski zavod, Ohrid (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia))
During 2001, water from river Cerava and from the littoral where the river flow into lake Ohrid, were examined. Bacteriological analysis included ecological and sanitary aspekt of water state. Heterotrophic, proteolytic, amylolytic and phosphomineralizing bacteria, most probable number of total coliforms (MPN) and presence of Escherichia coli and Clostridium perfringens were determined. The results of investigations shows organic and faecal pollution and permanent negative anthropogenic effects.

2003
Camprag, N. | Lehoczki, I. (Zavod za zastitu zdravlja, Subotica (Serbia and Montenegro))
This work show and compare results of chlorophyll 'a' and phaeophytin 'a' concentrations during three years systematic examination. The samples were collected from the fourth sector of Palic lake, ones a month, during 2000, 2001, and 2002 using method by Szilagyi. Comparing values, a great seasonic changes of chlorophyll 'a' and phaeophytin 'a' concentrations is noticed.

2003
Milenkovic, P. (Zavod za zastitu zdravlja "Timok", Zajecar (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Nakic, S. | Bajic, A. | Radosavljevic, M.
The lack of drinking water in Zajecar was the main reason for building of water barrier on the Grliste river and making the water reservoir. A factory for water processing was also built, but the problems were not disappeared. The conclusion is that the main solution for this ecosystem was in establishing of an monitoring system. That is the reason why we talk out the results of the monitoring and the troubles in this water source as well as in the phases of water processing.

2003
Ristic, R. | Kadovic, R. | Djekovic, V. | Letic, Lj. | Nikic, Z. (Univerzitet u Beogradu, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro). Sumarski fakultet)
One of the most important strategic-development directions of Serbia in the 21st century is restoration of hilly-mountainous regions. Stara Planina represents the region with extraordinary natural potentials almost unused, especially the part upstream of the reservoir Zavoj. Development of sheep raising on huge meadow-pasture surfaces in the catchment of river Visocica is possible, taking into account natural characteristics of the area, education and tradition of inhabitants. Catchment area of river Visocica provides water for water-supply reservoir Zavoj, so it is very important to apply erosion control measures on the slopes, as well as stopping the eroded material and pollutants before reaching the water courses. Agroforestry is optimal system of land use, with indispensable conservation and protective measures.

2003
Boreli-Zdravkovic, Dj. | Radenkovic, Z. (Institut za vodoprivredu "Jaroslav Cerni", Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro))
Concentrations of nitrate above defined levels for portable water are present in most of the groundwater sources in Velika Morava river alluvion. Some problems exists in Meminac and Kljuc, groundwater sources of Pozarevac town. Some detail investigations were organized in 2002. Survey of groundwater quality in the wide surrounding of Kljuc confirmed some earlier made assumptions about influence of agriculture and sewage water, and their contribution to existing groundwater quality.
