Effects of Essential Oils for Broiler Chicks with Delayed Feeding after Hatching 2. Morphological Development of Small Intestine النص الكامل

The study investigated the effects of oregano- or red pepper-essential oil at delayed feeding (0, 24 and 48 h post-hatching) on performance and morphological development of small intestine segments. Female broilers were fed one of 3 rations including a control ration with no essential oil (CONT), the rations added with either oregano essential oil (OEO) or red pepper essential oil (RPEO) at 250 mg/kg to CONT. A total of 18 chicks from each treatment were used to measure the morphological parameters of the small intestine segments on the 14th day. Prolongation of accessing time to ration significantly decreased the body weights of broilers at 3rd, 7th and 14th d, feed intake (FI) from 4 to 7 d and improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) of broilers at the period of 4-7 d. Access to ration for 48 h post-hatching significantly decreased the body weight gains at the period of 4-7 and 7-14 d, FI from 7 to 14 d and improved FCR of broilers at the period of 7-14 d. OEO250 ration significantly increased villus height (VH) and villus surface area (VSA) of jejunum (J) and ileum (I) of broilers fed immediately and the IVH and IVSA of broiler accessed to ration for 48 h post-hatching. VH of duodenum (D), IVH and IVSA of broilers fed for 24 h post-hatching were significantly increased by RPEO250 ration. OEO250 and RPEO250 rations significantly reduced crypt depth (CD) of D and J of broiler accessed to ration for immediate and DCD of broiler fed for 24 h post-hatching. OEO250 and RPEO250 rations significantly increased IVH and IVSA and reduced DCD, JCD and ICD of broilers. In conclusion, OEO250 and RPEO250 rations affected positively VH and VSA of I and reduced CDs of small intestine segments of broilers accessed to ration at different times.

Türkiye’nin toplam su ürünleri üretimi son yıllarda az da olsa giderek azalmaktadır. Bu azalış avcılıktan kaynaklanmaktadır. Avcılığın tersine yetiştiricilik üretimi ise giderek hızla artmaktadır. Toplam su ürünleri üretiminin yaklaşık 1/5’i ihracata konu olurken, su ürünleri dış ticaret hacmi, miktar ve değer olarak giderek hızla artmaktadır. Tarımdaki gelişimin aksine, su ürünleri dış ticaret dengesi, ihracattaki hızlı artışa paralel olarak giderek artan bir şekilde fazla vermektedir. Bu miktar 2016 yılında yaklaşık 610 milyon $’a ulaşmıştır. Su ürünleri ihracatının kaynağını büyük ölçüde yetiştiricilik oluşturmaktadır. İhracat değeri içerisinde levrek (%24), çipura (%21) ve alabalık (%13) başta gelen türlerdir. İhracat pazarları arasında, %65’lik payı ile AB ülkeleri başta gelirken, AB’ni %6,6 ile Japonya, %5,9 ile Rusya, %3,9 ile Lübnan, %3,5 ile ABD izlemektedir. Türkiye’nin su ürünleri dış pazarlamasındaki en büyük sorunu; uluslararası normlara uygun satış ve işlemedeki eksikliklerdir. Nitekim ihracatın yaklaşık %55’ini taze ya da soğutulmuş balıklar oluştururken, %25’ini balık filetoları ve %9’unu dondurulmuş şeklindeki işlenmiş balıkların oluşturduğu gözlenmektedir. Öte yandan, özellikle son yıllarda yetiştiricilikte yem fiyatlarından dolayı yaşanan olumsuzluklar avcılık stoklarını, dolayısıyla dış ticareti de etkilemektedir. Nitekim toplam üretim içinde %49’luk paya sahip olan hamsilerin yaklaşık yarısı, çaça balıklarının ise neredeyse tamamı balık unu ve yağı için kullanıldığından herbivor ve omnivor türlerin yetiştiriciliği gündeme gelmektedir. Bu çalışmada daha çok istatistiksel kaynaklardan sağlanan ikincil veriler ve bu konuda yapılmış çalışma sonuçlarından yararlanılmıştır. Bu çerçevede su ürünleri üretim ve dış ticaretindeki gelişmeler değerlendirilerek, su ürünleri dış ticaretinde karşılaşılan sorunlar ile bu sorunlara yönelik çözüm önerilerinin tartışılması amaçlanmıştır.

Et tipi tavukların seleksiyonu öncelikle büyüme hızına ve vücut kompozisyonunun geliştirilmesine odaklanmıştır. Büyüme ve üreme ile ilgili özellikler arasındaki negatif ilişki ıslah ve yetiştiricilik uygulamalarını zorlaştırmaktadır. Tavuk ıslahıyla ilgili çalışmalar yaklaşık 150 yıllık bir geçmişe dayanıyor olmasına karşın üretimdeki verim artışları son 75 yıllık dönemde sağlanabilmiştir. Damızlık hayvanlar seçilirken; iskelet yapısı, vücut konformasyonu ve kondisyonu, morbidite vb. fenotipik özellikler dikkate alınmaktadır. Yıllar içinde etlik ebeveyn düzeyinde kuluçkalık yumurta sayısı, yumurta ağırlığı ve kuluçka randımanı açısından ilerleme kaydedilmiştir. Et tipi tavuklar için, 20. yüzyılın ilk çeyreğinde kesim yaşına kadar günlük canlı ağırlık artışı ortalama 8 g ve yemden yararlanma oranı 5,0 iken 21. yüzyılın başında bu özellikler için sırasıyla 66 g ve 1,7 değerlerine ulaşmıştır. Etlik piliç üretiminde kullanılan genotiplerin canlı ağırlığındaki ve yemden yararlanma oranındaki iyileşmede etkili asıl faktör genetik çalışmalardır. Bu gelişmelerin yanında, etlik piliçlerin bağışıklık sistemi, iskelet sistemi bozuklukları, yaşama gücü ve damızlıklardaki üreme ile ilgili bazı olumsuzluklar ortaya çıkan sorunlardır.

This study was carried out to determine the effects of age and number of grafted larvae on acceptance rates, body weight, body length, head width and length, thorax width and length, and wing width and length of queen bees. One breeding and eleven starter hives were used for rearing queen bees. Totally, 495 one, two, and three-day-old larvae were grafted into starter hives comprising 30, 45, and 60 and 414 larvae were accepted; thus, generally, the acceptance rate was calculated as 83%. The best acceptance rate was calculated in three-day-old larvae group as 85.15%. There were found a statistically significant effect of the number of grafted larvae on body length and head width of queen. However, there were any effects on weight, head length, thorax width, thorax length, wing width, wing length, and acceptance rate of larvae. Age of grafted larvae did not have a statistically significant effect on head width, head length, wing width and acceptance rate of larvae. On the other hand, age of grafted larvae had a statistically significant effect on queen weight, body length, thorax width and length, and wing length of queen. If bee breeders wish to improve their stock, they should graft one-day-old larvae for rearing better queen bees.

The impacts of egg weight (EW), egg shell temperature (EST), egg position in the incubator (EP) and incubator ventilation program (IVP) on embryonic mortality (EM) and hatchability of fertile eggs (HFE) of broiler breeders were investigated in this study. EW was determined total 1920 hatching eggs which were obtained from middle aged (31 weeks) Ross 308 broiler breeders. These eggs were classified according to weight as heavy (65.52±0.08g), medium (61.47±0.04g) and light (57.56±0.08g) then were randomly set in trolleys of four identical incubators sorted as near the heather side – door side, humidifier side – opposite side and top – middle – bottom. In two incubators 37.78°C (100.0°F) EST and 38.06°C (100.5°F) EST were provided in the other two. Similarly, two machines were operated on classic IVP system and the other two were operated on new IVP system organised specially for this project during first 10 days of incubation. At the end of the hatching period, data including EM and HFE data were examined in eggs with different EST, EW and EP. It was found that EW and EST were affected to EM and HFE. Lower last stage + pipped but unhatched embryo rates and accordingly higher HFE were determined in eggs with 37.78°C (100.0°F) EST and light. However, differences between IVP and EP data were not significant.

The effects of raw and leached cocoa bean hulls were investigated as a fat replacer in pound cakes. This substitution was applied for raw (RCBH) and leached (LCBH) grinded cacao bean hulls/oil in the ratios of 30/70 (30%), 40/60 (40%) and 50/50 (50%). Chemical, physical and sensorial properties of raw and leached cocoa bean hulls were studied as well as fat substituted cakes. Ash, protein, total phenolic compounds and total antioxidant activity decreased with leaching process. Crude fiber content increased in fat substituted cakes compared to control cake. RCBH cakes showed higher bioactive components than LCBH cakes because of raw cocoa bean hulls were higher phenolic compounds and total antioxidant activities than leached cocoa bean hulls. The results showed that 50% of vegetable oil replacement with raw cocoa bean hull in cake formulation significantly improved chemical, physical and sensory properties of fat substituted cakes.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the thought of food security provided in dairy products and the determinants in terms of manufacturers in South Marmara Region in Turkey. The primary data obtained from 70 dairy manufacturers were analysed by Factor Analysis and Logistic Regression Analysis. According to this, price fluctuation and increase in the distance from the place where the milk is provided, reasons such as corporatization are factors that cause the lack of food security in dairy products. On the contrary, the likelihood of providing food security in dairy products increases with the increase in financial sustainability, food safety, quantity of milk and dairy products, the ability to produce and store, the number of employees, the degree of milk use.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of dam breed on lambs sired by Charollais rams and purebred Charollais lambs obtained via embryo transfer. Frozen Charollais semen and embryos, used to obtain crossbreed and purebred Charollais lambs, were imported from elite flock with pedigrees and progeny test in Canada.The study was conducted on the crossbred Charollais lambs born from Tushin, and Romanov F1 ewes (Romanov × Morkaraman), and Charollais lambs born from Awassi, Morkaraman and Tushin surrogate ewes. The data was collected on 61 lambs (23 Charollais: CH, 20 Tushin × Charollais: F1 CH and 18 Charollais × Romanov F1:COR) from birth to weaning. Average weights at birth for CH, F1 CH and COR lambs were 4.32 ± 0.18 kg, 4.17 ± 0.18 kg, 3.18 ± 0.19 kg and at the age of 60 days were 21.20 ± 1.07 kg, 20.94 ± 0.84 kg, 18.13 ± 0.91 kg, respectively. The genotype of dams significantly affected birth and weaning weights of crossbred lambs, but not average daily live weight gain (ADG). Litter size had constant significant effect on the traits evaluated. Survival rates of crossbred lambs from birth to weaning were affected by the dam genotype. Birth weights and survival rates of CH lambs born from embryo transfer were affected by recipient genotypes and Awassi ewes were found to be the best surrogate mothers.

Household level vulnerability analyses are becoming main issue in economics literature. Yet very few empirical works have been done to examine the extent of Eastern Ethiopia urban (Dira Dawa, Harar and Jigjiga towns) households’ vulnerability to multidimensional poverty. This paper tried to fill the gap by using a survey that was conducted to collect information on household’s characteristics, socioeconomic status, shocks experience and responses to shocks during the year 2016. Unlike conventional studies of household vulnerability, this study calculates household’s probability of experiencing a broad and non-monetary characterization of poverty: the multidimensional poverty index using Structural Equation and Tobit model. The Structural Equation Model result revealed that, the health and education dimensions of multidimensional poverty significantly contributed a lot to households’ vulnerability to multidimensional poverty. Based on the Tobit model result households’ vulnerability to multidimensional poverty would be reduced if the household is wealthier, better educated healthier, employed and has the practice of reducing the size of meals at the time of shock. Contrary to this, if the household has large family size, prone to health problem, and has not developed the culture of reducing the number of meals per day, there is high risk of vulnerability to multidimensional poverty. Hence, the study recommended that there is a dire need for policies and programs that can improve wealth and education statuses of household members, create employment opportunity, promote family planning, improved health situation and accessibility of food for the vulnerable households.

Şubat 2015-Ocak 2016 tarihleri arasında aylık olarak Munzur Çayı’nda belirlenen iki istasyonda gerçekleştirilen çalışmada fitoplankton dağılımı ile fiziko-kimyasal parametreler belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Yerüstü Su Kalitesi Yönetmeliği’ne göre suyun kalitesi, sıcaklık, pH, oksijen, amonyum nitrat I. Sınıf özelliği; nitrit ise II. Sınıf özelliği niteliğinde değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca II. İstasyon evsel atık sebebiyle organik kirlenme tehdidi altında olduğu belirlenmiş ve bu duruma markerleri olarak bölgedeki fitoplankton dağılımı incelenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar göstermiştir ki: Munzur Çayı’nda Chlorophyta (6), Bacillariophyta (54), Cyanobacteria (15), Rhodophyta (1), Ochrophyta (1), Euglenophyta (2), Charophyta (3), Miozoa (2) sınıflarına ait toplam 84 takson tespit edilmiştir. Fitoplanktonda organizma sayısı bakımından iki istasyon içinde Bacillariophyta divizyosunun dominant, Cyanobacteria ise subdominant olduğu gözlenmiştir. Fitoplanktonda Bacillariophyta’dan Ulnaria ulna, Nitzschia palea, Bacillaria paradoxa ,Encyonema sp., Navicula sp. ve Nitzschia acicularis türlerinin çoğunlukla bulunduğu; Cyanobacteria üyelerinden Lyngbya sp., Spirulina labyrinthiformis, Oscillatoria labyrinthiformis ve Oscillatoria mougeotii türlerinin ise önem açısından ikinci sırada yer aldığı raporlanmıştır. Chlorophyta, Charophyta ve Euglenophyta türleri ise önemli sayılara ulaşamamışlardır.
