A Macroanatomic Study on Broncho-Pulmonary Segmentation in Hasak Sheep

In this study, 10 Hasak sheep lungs from Konya Bahri Dağdaş International Agricultural Research Institute, Unit of Experimental Animals Unit were used. Corrosion casting technique were applied to the materials. The corrosion cured materials were stored in water for one night. It was then incubated at 37 ° C in a 20% KOH solution for 24 hours. Corrosion casting technique and latex injection materials were photographed and presented in the study. The lungs were found to be wrapped with pleura visceralis (pleura pulmonalis) in the cavum thoracis. It was determined that the right lung was consisted of lobe cranialis (pars cranialis and pars caudalis), lobus medius, lobus caudalis and lobus accessorius. The left lung was composed of lobe cranialis (pars cranialis and pars caudalis) and lobe caudal. In the bronchus that shaped these lobes, it was determined that tacheae gave bronchus lobaris cranialis dexter (bronchus trachealis) mean 48.53 mm before the bifurcatio trachea, and later on it was divided into bronchus pirincipalis dexter and sinister. In this study, anatomical features of broncho-pulmonary segmentation and similarities and differences with other species were revealed.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of solid and liquid vermicompost on yield and nutrient uptake of tomato plant. The study was carried out with three replications according to the experimental pattern of randomized plots in the plastic pots with the capacity of 3 kg under the greenhouse conditions of Plant and Animal Production Department of Cumhuriyet University. In the study, chemical fertilization was applied for comparison with solid and liquid vermicompost. Vermicompost doses were applied as 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%. In the study, tomato yield and nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu) concentrations were determined. The results have shown that 10% solid vermicompost increased dry matter production of tomato plant with 8,92 g pot-1. This application was followed with 7,04 g pot-1 dry matter production in 20% solid vermicompost application. The highest increase in P (0,27% P) and K (9,01%) concentration of tomato plant was determined in 40% solid vermicompost. However, the highest N concentration was determined with chemical fertilization (4,06%). Generally, it was determined that the solid vermicompost higher effect on the yield and nutrient uptake of tomato plant than liquid vermicompost.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the chemical composition and mineral bioavailability of T. tetraptera fruit pulp, an aromatic wild edible plant, using standard methods. The pulp were extracted from mature dried fruits obtained from plants at Awabo (5°30’14.2”N and 4°01’30.6”W) and Loviguié villages (5°48’24.5’’N and 4°20’15.8”W), all in south-eastern Côte d’Ivoire. The results of chemical analysis revealed that T. tetraptera fruit pulp contains carbohydrates (63.73±0.51%), crude protein (7.01±0.66%), crude fat (1.18±0.01%), ash (5.38±0.18%), fibre (11.78±0.02%), moisture (40.52±0.18%) and an energy value of 254.74±0.15 kcal/100g. Besides, the results showed a relative high amount of vitamin A (2.11±0.02%) and vitamin B9 (261.78±0.01 µg/100g) while vitamin E, B1 and B2 in trace concentration. Otherwise, the phytochemical analysis (mg/100g) based on dry weight revealed an appreciable amount of total phenol (2407.10±8.36), flavonoids (14.29±0.56), tannins (55.11±0.44), catechin (392.93±1.01) and also carotenoids (108.19±7.42 µg/100g). Organic acids profile (mg/100mL) showed citric acid (175.06±0.02) and salicylic acid (109.85±0.01) as major organic acids. Mineral composition (mg/100g) on dry weight basis revealed that potassium (1303.67±0.58) is the most abundant followed by phosphorus (303.33±5.77), calcium (187.33±0.58) and magnesium (141.33±0.57). Furthermore, the Phytates:Zn, Phytates:Ca, Oxalates:Ca and Phytates*Ca:Zn molar ratios recorded were all below than recommended threshold values, implying a bioavailability of zinc and calcium. These data indicate that the pulp of this fruit could be a good source of ingredient for both medicine and food industries in production.

Yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarına olan yönelme son yıllarda giderek artmaktadır. Bu yöneliş, öncelikle potansiyel hesaplamalarıyla başlamış, zamanla teknolojilerin uygulamasına geçilmiştir. Teknolojik anlamda güneş enerjisi uygulamaları; genelde ısıtma, elektrik üretme ve tarımsal sulama amaçlı olmaktadır. Elektrik üretmede fotovoltaik pil (PV) uygulamaları, dünya çapında büyük ivme kazanmıştır. Fotovoltaik sulama sistemlerinde boyut analizi yapılırken, kullanılan eski metotlar, sadece üretilen hidrolik enerjinin gereksinimlerini dikkate alırdı. Bu metotların aksine bu çalışmada problem, sistematik olarak ele alınıp, sistemin bütün elemanlarının ve bileşenlerinin analizleri yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, öncelikle Niğde’nin tarımsal yapısına uygun olarak, patates üretimi yapılan işletmenin enerji ihtiyacı belirlenmiştir. Söz konusu çalışmalar göstermiştir ki; tarımsal amaçlı sulamada, çok büyük bir enerji ihtiyacı bulunmaktadır. Bu enerji ihtiyacının güneş enerjisi ile karşılanmasının ekonomik boyutu sistemin projelendirilmesi, uygulanması ve üretilen elektriğin değerlendirilmesine göre çok değişkenlik göstermektedir. Çalışmada, bu sorunlar uygulama ve farklı senaryolar dahilinde irdelenmiştir.

2018 yılında yapılan bu çalışmada, Lup metodu kullanılarak Rize ili Güneysu ilçesine bağlı Handüzü yaylasının bazı vejetasyon özellikleri belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada toprağı kaplama ve botanik kompozisyon oranları ve mera durum sınıfı incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda 4 buğdaygil, 4 baklagil ve 33 diğer familyadan bitkiler tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma alanının toprağı kaplama oranı %82,40, buğdaygillerin botanik kompozisyondaki oranı %33,37, baklagillerin oranı %5,75 ve diğer familyaların oranı da %60,88 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Mera da en yaygın bulunan ilk üç tür sırasıyla; Nardus stricta L. (%27,00), Carex atrata L. subsp. aterrima (Hoppe) Hartm. (%11,10) ve Polygala alpestris Rchb. (%8,50) olmuştur. Mera kalite derecesi %2,456 değeri ile meranın durumu zayıf olarak belirlenmiştir. Başta kontrollü otlatma ve üstten tohumlama olmak üzere diğer ıslah yöntemlerinin birlikte uygulanması sonucuna varılmıştır.

Fish is an important food source for human health. Despite being surrounded on three sides by seas, fish demand is not enough demand in Turkey. The demand for a good is determined by many factors, especially the income of consumer and price of an item. In Kastamonu city centre with a population of 128.537, a questionnaire is applied to determine the consumption and frequency of fish consumption. According to the survey results, the consumption of fish in Kastamonu city centre is not at a desirable level. Although the price of fish is lower than that of red meat, it is not preferred by the low-income group. Most fish consumption is carried out by those with high-income levels.

In this study, the antioxidant activities and biochemical characteristics of Ulva rigida (Ulvophyceae) and Arthrospira platensis (Cyanophyceae) were determined. The extracts from two seaweed species were evaluated for their free radical scavenging activity, using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl hydrate (DPPH) method, their total phenolic, flavonoid, and condensed tannin contents, through Folin–Ciocalteu, Quettier-Deleu, and Price methods, respectively. The extracts of two seaweeds showed a low free radical scavenging capacity in comparison with commercial antioxidant BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), and vitamin C. The extract of U. rigida demonstrated greater antioxidant potential with a low IC50 (3.76±0.02 mg/g Ext.). The total phenolic contents were ranged from 2.21±0.08 (U. rigida) to 8.59±0.62 (A. platensis) mg GAE/g of extract. The highest flavonoid content was found in A. platensis as 22.70±0.65 mg rutin/g of extract. The contents of condensed tannin were measured 3.01±0.11 mg CE/g of extract for A. platensis and 3.76±0.06 mg CE/g of extract for U. rigida. According to results obtained, U. rigida and A. maxima possess antioxidant activity and could be used in for future applications in medicine, functional foods, and agriculture.

In this study, seasonal changes in the lipid and fatty acid profiles of S. lessepsianus caught from the Mersin Bay were investigated. The total lipid levels of S. lessepsianus were found to be 2.94%, 7.19%, 2.45%, 0.83%, in spring, summer, autumn and winter season, respectively. Major fatty acids in S. lessepsianus were palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, palmitoleic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in all seasons. The highest values of palmitic, palmitoleic and EPA were determined as 22.97%, 3.80% and 4.22% in spring, respectively. The highest values of stearic and oleic acid were determined as 15.93% and 7.84% in autumn, respectively. The highest value of DHA were also determined as 31.91% in winter season. The EPA level from polyunsaturated fatty acids was found in the range of 2.54-4.22% (23.09-195.62 mg/100g). The highest level of DHA were observed in the winter season and its levels changed in the range of 19.83-31.81% and was calculated as 201.29-1301.73 mg/100g. In addition, the highest level of the Σn3, Σn6, and Σn9 were calculated in the summer season as 1516.39, 114.88, 399.77 mg/100g, respectively. This report showed that fat and fatty acid profiles of S. lessepsianus are quite influenced by seasonal factors.

In this study; Design and production of a fixed testing platform is made for determining characteristics properties of submersible type waste water pumps that requires between 3 - 22 kW energy. Submersible waste water pumps are used for agricultural plants (for transporting liquid animal fertilizer etc.), drain aging of waste water in bridges and underpasses and other industrial applications. Accurate determination of pump performances in pump manufacturing directly affects the improvement and development of R & D activities For this aim, this study was carried out in a firm which operates in Konya industry and produces different types of pumps. The test stand has been designed and manufactured in 3 different lines as DN 80, DN 125 and DN 150 standard pipe diameters according to TS 12599 standard and centrifugal pump design principles. At the end of the pump tests, the system creates the pump characteristic curves and gives the output data to the user.

European Union (EU) uses The Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) to prepare candidate and potential candidate countries for EU membership. One of the five components of IPA is rural development (IPARD). IPARD funds provide financing to develop production standards of agricultural establishments for competing with other establishments in EU member states. For this purpose, in Turkey IPARD I programme was applied between 2007 and 2013 and IPARD II programme was prepared to apply from 2014 to 2020. The purpose of this study is comparing structural differences of IPARD I and IPARD II programme which are important tools to increase competitiveness of agricultural establishments in Turkey. The main material of the study was IPARD I and IPARD II programs. In the study, firstly, the support given within the scope of IPARD programs were presented as tables and graphs. Structural differences between the two programmes were examined under three headings; targets of programmes, budgets of programmes and eligibility criteria. In the result of this study, changes and the actual statue of this important financial tool was revealed. Most important changes were public aid rates and new supporting sectors. Regarding to the public aid rates, while the highest rate was 65% in IPARD I, it is 70% in IPARD II. Also an additional 10% can be given for investments in effluent storage and waste management for benefit of the environment in IPARD II. In IPARD II; egg production, mushroom cultivation, machinery parks and renewable energy plants sectors are added to supporting sectors.
