The experiment was carried out at a greenhouse of Plant Science Department of the Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA), Mossoró-RN, with the objective of determing the effect green manuring with scarlet starglory in coverage in agronomic performance of lettuce. A completely randomized desing with six treatments and four replications. The treatments consist of: T1 (scarlet starglory in coverage 35 days ; T2 (scarlet starglory in coverage 28 days); T3 (scarlet starglory in coverage 21 days); T4 (scarlet starglory in coverage 14 days); T5 (scarlet starglory in coverage 7 days); T6 - Control (no fertilized soil). The evaluated traits were: plant height, Horizontal and vertical diameter of the root (mm), shoot fresh and dry mass (g); roots fresh and dry mass (g). The time of decomposition of 42 days was the maximum provided for all characteristics evaluated.

This work aimed to estimate the phenotypic correlation coefficients and to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of these correlations (path analysis). It was studied the effect of the explanatory independent variables tiller number, stem diameter, and stem length on the main dependent variable leaf number of "Capparis flexuosa" plants during two evaluation periods in the Cariri region of Paraiba State, Brazil. There were significant differences between the evaluated periods for the studied variables. Tiller number during the dry season and stem length during the rainy season explained best the leaf number, acting respectively in a direct and inversely proportional way on the main variable, changing according to the environmental conditions during the growth period. The results allowed the conclusion that tiller number exerts great influence on leaf number in both evaluation periods.

The purpose with this experiment was to evaluate the sucupira-preta seeds tolerance to the desiccation. Seeds initially with 10.63% of humidity were submitted to a drying until reaching the following water tenors: 10.63% (control); 10.0%; 9.5%; 9.0%; 8.5%; 7.5%; 7.0%; and 6.5%. Then they were preheated for 24 hours in recipients with air relative humidity of about 100% to avoid harming by the quick absorption. Next, they were scarified with water sandpaper number 120 and accommodated in Petri plate on filter paper and set to germinate in germination chamber type BOD at 25 ºC and photoperiod for 12 hours, during 30 days. Radicle with 2 mm long was the germination criterion used in this experiment. The experimental design was the completelyKeywords randomized, with four replications of 25 seeds per treatment. The averages were compared using Tukey test at 5% of probability. Sucupira-preta seeds tolerate dehydration until they touch on 9% of water tenor, when they show germination of 24%, not differing from the control (31%). Due to these results they can be classified as orthodoxy, feature that enable the storage away from their natural environment.

Different tillage systems cause changes in the chemical, physical and biological attributes of soil, requiring modifications in the requirements of fertilization and liming. The aim of this work was to assess the effects of tillage systems on chemical of a Yellow Latosol (Oxisols) Cohesive Dystrophic soil, cultivated with soybean in a single and intercropped system with Brachiaria decumbens. The experiment was conducted at the Center of Agricultural Sciences Federal University of Alagoas for five consecutive years. The treatments utilized were: conventional tillage of the soil, minimum cultivation and no-tillage. The systems of soil preparation not exerted influence on the pH at depths of 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm. Variables pH, OM, K, Ca + Mg and V% showed significant reduction of their average in terms of increased depth of sampling. The consortium soybean vs. B. decumbens causes significant increases in levels of potassium in layers at 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm.

The current model of economic development is based on a predatory and exculpatory vision, which discloses a way of being inhuman. Implying in changes of perception, thoughts and values, it has seen, that the form as the nature is explored in accordance with varies the ambient perception of the community or group. This work objectified to analyze the perception of Juazeirinho/PB agricultural communities referring the extinction of biodiversity of caatinga, aiming at to delineate sensitization strategies that make possible the valuation of this biome. The work portrays a carried through participant research with the communities Escurinha and Mendonça. For the collection of data direct comment was used, with visits to the communities, dynamics, half-structuralized interview and accomplishment of meeting. According to community some vegetal and animal species are disappearing. Between the animals they are cited: corduniz (Nothura sp), gato do mato (Felisa tigrina), gato maracajá (Felis wildi), mocó (Kerodon rupestris), preá (Gálea sprixii), Tejo (Família Teiidae), tatu peba (Euphractus sexcinctus), tatu verdadeiro (Dasypus novmcinctus) e o guaxinim (Procyon camcrivorus).Between vegetables they had been cited: Aveloz (Euphorbia gimnoclada), Imbuzeiro (Spondias tuberosa), Aroeira (Myracroduom unrudeuva), Caatingueira (Caesalpinia pyramidali), Baraúna (Schnopsis brasiliensis), Quixabeira (Bumelia sertorum), Mufumbo (Combretum leprosum). We can verify that it is necessary to promote changes in the ambient perception of the studied communities, thus allowing, to awake for problematic ambient, to point and to search solutions, that take the valuation of local biodiversity.

This work was accomplished with the objective of evaluating the effect of different levels of salinity of the irrigation water in the development of cowpea. The used design was it entirely randomized with five treatments (0.5, 2.13, 2.94, 3.5 and 5.0 dS m-1) and three replications. The plants were collected to the 45 days after sowing, being appraised: the diameter of the stem, number of nodules in the roots, height, number of leaves, leaf area and total matter dries. The salinity influenced lineally in the vegetative growth of the bean cowpea, being all the reduced characteristics with of the saline level. The most affected characteristics for the largest saline level were leave area (65.90%), the matter dries (69.10%) and the number of nodules (98.71%).

This study aimed to carry through chemical caracterization of the coconut fiber powder and evaluate its effect on the absorption of nutrients in the as medium substrate on the production of eggplant seedling. The experiment was conducted for forty days under greenhouse, and it was used seeds of the Florida Market cultivar were cultivated in polyetilene strays with 54 cells and irrigated with nutritive solution two times for day. The substrates were used dust and fiber green coconut coir fibre, in the proportions of 100% of dust, 75% of dust + 25% of fiber and 50% of dust + 50% of fiber, washed and not washed; dry coconut coir fibre not washed; rind of green coconut grinded (fiber and dust mix from machine) washed end not washed (fiber and dust mix from machine); commercial substrate not fertilized and control (green coconut coir fibre not washed and not fertilized). It was used a statistical randomized block design with eleven treatments and four replications, with 25 plants per replications. The chemical characterization of substrates was carried through and was valuated nutrient total contents of the plant upper parts. The best results were observed for the seedlings grown in dry coconut coir fibre not washed, followed by commercial substrate and green coconut coir fibre washed.

The moringa oleifera Lam. tree, a native plant species from tropical Africa, although it has been in introduced in Brazil as an ornamental tree, it can be used for industrial and medicine purposes. The work was to evaluate the physiological quality of the jug with different reservoirs and environmental conditions for a period of six months. The study was conducted in the laboratory of plant physiology in UFERSA, where the seeds were obtained, which were stored after the harvest in three different containers: plastic bag, paper bag and glass which were stored at room temperature and cold for a period of three and six months. After 12 days of sowing, evaluations were made of the speed of germination index (IVG), height and fresh and dry matter of seedlings. The experimental design was entirely randomized in a factorial 3 x 2 x 2, and studied three containers (plastic bag, paper bag and glass), two environments (temperature and cold) and two storage periods (3 and 6 months ) with four replications. The results showed that the seeds are orthodox behavior, remaining viable for six months when stored in cold and room temperature, regardless of packaging, if they are wrapped in airtight packaging.

This work deals with the survey of the family Boraginaceae in a lowland seasonal dry forest in the municipality of Aliança, Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil. Seven species and three genera were recorded: Cordia L., with three species (C. sellowiana Cham., C. taguahyensis Vell. and C. trichotoma (Vell.) Arráb. ex Steud.); Heliotropium L., with only one species, H. elongatum (Lehm.) I.M. Johnst. and Tournefortia L., represented by three species (T. bicolor Sw., T. gardneri A.DC. and T. rubicunda Salzm. ex A.DC.). A key to the recognition of the species, as well as descriptions and illustrations were given. Data about distribution, flowering and or fruiting of the species also are provided.

The objective was to evaluate the effect the soil chemical characteristics with the application crushed basalt doses soil samples in the Mato Grosso do Sul State. The experiment was installed in a completely randomized design with six treatments, represented by basalt ground doses (0.00, 12.50, 25.00, 37.50, 50.00 and 62.50 g dm-3) and three replications. Samples of 200 cm3 soil each, packed in polyethylene pots were incubated in the laboratory for 90 days with crushed basalt. At the end of the incubation the samples were dried in the air, passed through a sieve with mesh 2 mm opening, homogenized and subjected to chemical analysis of pH, aluminum, calcium, magnesium, potassium end potenciaty acidy. The values base saturation (V%) were calculated by the product of the bases sum per 100 divided by the cation exchange capacity at pH 7.0 (T). Concluded that the pH is shown with the greatest change the lower the power of packing the soil. With the application crushed basalt was very significant increases in the potassium levels. The biggest increases calcium and magnesium in the soils were poor in these nutrients.
