Soil and water pollution is a serious problem. An efficient alternative is phytoremediation, a method that uses plants to clean contaminants from soil and water. This approach is sustainable and less invasive than traditional methods. Biostimulants, on the other hand, are substances or microorganisms that improve the absorption and assimilation of nutrients. The objective of this study was to analyze the bioabsorption of heavy metals from the Endhó dam and the agronomic response of Sechium edule Sw with biostimulants and two types of substrates. To do this, Sechium edule Sw fruits were germinated and planted in 100 L pots with tezontle substrates (fine and coarse) and vermicompost in a ratio of 8:2 v/v, under a 1x3x2 experimental design. Irrigation was carried out according to the water needs of the crop, using well water during the first stage and wastewater from the Endhó dam in the second. In addition, three types of plant biostimulants were applied. The results showed that the roots of treatment B presented significant differences in the concentrations of chromium and lead (p = 0.0067), while significant concentrations of chromium and arsenic were observed in the leaves in the same treatment (p = 0.0018). It is concluded that treatment B, together with the use of biostimulants, represents a viable and sustainable alternative for the bioabsorption of metals with Sechium edule Sw. | La contaminación de suelos y aguas representa un problema serio. Una alternativa eficiente es la fitorremediación, un método que utiliza plantas para limpiar contaminantes del suelo y el agua. Este enfoque es sostenible y menos invasivo que los métodos tradicionales. Los bioestimulantes, son sustancias o microorganismos que mejoran la absorción y asimilación de nutrientes. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la bioabsorción de metales pesados provenientes de la presa Endhó y la respuesta agronómica de Sechium edule Sw con bioestimulantes y dos tipos de sustratos. Para ello, se germinaron frutos de Sechium edule Sw y se sembraron en tinas maceteras de 100 L con sustratos de tezontle (fino y grueso) y lombricomposta en una proporción de 8:2 v/v, bajo un diseño experimental 1x3x2. El riego se realizó según las necesidades hídricas del cultivo, empleando agua de pozo durante la primera etapa y agua residual de la presa Endhó en la segunda. Además, se aplicaron tres tipos de bioestimulantes vegetales. Los resultados mostraron que las raíces del tratamiento B presentaron diferencias significativas en las concentraciones de cromo y plomo (p = 0.0067), mientras que en las hojas se observaron concentraciones significativas de cromo y arsénico en el mismo tratamiento (p = 0.0018). Se concluye que el tratamiento B, junto con el uso de bioestimulantes, representa una alternativa viable y sostenible para la bioabsorción de metales con Sechium edule Sw.
