Trypanosomiasis in ruminants is a disease of great importance in South America. A major difficulty for parasitological diagnosis is the parasite viability after the blood is collected to perform the analysis. The Woo test is the widely used test when the parasitemia of the sample is low, because it has greater sensitivity. Coconut water has been used for the cultivation of plant cells, adjuvant for culture of fungi and protozoa, and as diluent semen from several species. This study aimed to use the coconut water industrialized as adjuvant in the diagnosis of Trypanosoma vivax by the method of Woo. The study was conducted in July 2013, based on the analysis of three different parasitemia, 550000, 100000 and 1000 parasites/mL. Each parasitemia had 60 samples, including 30 samples in the control group G1 (1mL infected blood ) and the other 30 samples in the treated group G2 (1 mL of infected blood plus 1 ml of coconut water processed). All samples were analyzed in five times (T1: time zero, T2: 6 hours after dilution, T3: 12 hours after dilution, T4 for 24 hours after dilution, and T5: 48 hours after dilution). For statistical analysis was used the chi- square and McNemar tests, with minimun 95 % significance (p < 0.05), in SAS program. The results obtained showed significant differences between the treatments. The use of coconut water increased the viability of hemoparasite at times T2, T3 and T4. The three parasitaemia, when analyzed separately, showed different results and pointed their influence, as well as the time involved in the study. | A tripanossomose em ruminantes é uma doença de grande importância na América do Sul. Uma das maiores dificuldades para o diagnóstico por meio de exames parasitológicos é a viabilidade do parasita depois que o sangue é colhido até a realização da análise. O teste de Woo é o exame mais indicado a campo, quando a parasitemia da amostra é baixa, pois apresenta maior sensibilidade entre os diagnósticos parasitológicos da doença. A água de coco vem sendo usada para cultivo de células vegetais, como meio de cultura para cultivo de fungos e protozoários e como diluente de sêmen de diversas espécies. Este trabalho teve como objetivo a utilização da água de coco industrializada como adjuvante no diagnóstico do Trypanosoma vivax pelo método de Woo. O estudo foi realizado no mês de julho de 2013, baseado na análise de três parasitemias diferentes, 550000, 100000 e 1000 parasitas/mL. Cada parasitemia possuía 60 amostras, as quais 30 amostras pertencentes ao grupo controle G1 (1 mL sangue infectado) e as outras 30 amostras ao grupo tratado G2 (1 mL de sangue infectado mais 1 mL de água de coco industrializada). Todas as amostras foram avaliadas em cinco tempos (T1: zero hora; T2: 6 horas após diluição; T3: 12 horas após diluição; T4: 24 horas após diluição; e T5: 48 horas após diluição). Para análise estatística dos dados utilizou-se o teste de Qui-quadrado e Mcnemar com mínimo de 95% de significância (p < 0,05), pelo programa SAS. Os resultados obtidos nos tempos avaliados demonstraram diferenças significativas entre os tratamentos realizados. A utilização da água de coco aumentou a viabilidade do hemoparasita nos tempos T2, T3 e T4. As três parasitemias, quando analisadas separadamente, apresentaram resultados distintos e apontaram sua influência, assim como os tempos envolvidos no estudo.

Esse trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito da salinidade água de irrigação e diferentes doses de nitrogênio na produtividade da abobora<span style="color: red;">. </span>O delineamento experimental adotado foi em blocos ao acaso, em esquema de parcelas subdivididas 5 x 3, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram constituídos dos cinco níveis de salinidade (0,5, 1,5, 2,5, 3,5 e 4,5 dS m^-1), e três níveis de nitrogênio: N1 = 27,37; N2 = 91,25 e N3 = 155,12 kg ha^-1 correspondente a 30%, 100% e 170%, da recomendação de nitrogênio, respectivamente.Verificou-se redução do número de frutos e massa média dos frutos para produtividade<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">  </span>total, enquanto para produção comercial, apenas para número de frutos comerciais. para produção comercial, a resposta ao N foi mais pronunciada para os menores níveis de condutividade elétrica da água de irrigação, a adubação nitrogenada afetou significativamente os componentes de produção da abóbora, exceto a massa média dos frutos totais e comerciais e a dose N2=100% proporcionou rendimento e número BRS Pajeú. O experimento foi conduzido em lisímetros de drenagem, no período de junho a setembro de 2013 em casa de vegetação do CTRN/UFCG. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial (5 x 5), sendo cinco níveis de condutividade elétrica da água de irrigação - CEa (0,9; 1,8; 2,7; 3,6 e 4,5 dS m^-1) e cinco doses de adubação nitrogenada (70; 100; 130; 160 e 190% da recomendação indicada para o experimento em vaso). Como parâmetros da qualidade microbiológica foram realizadas as seguintes análises: Coliformes Termotolerantes,<em>Salmonella</em> spp/25g, Bolores e Leveduras e contagem de Microrganismos Aeróbios Psicrotróficos nas amostras. A água de coco anão verde comercializada pela indústria A, apresentou resultados de coliformes totais variando de 7 NMP/mL a 1,5 x 10²NMP/mL e &lt; 3 NMP/mL a 7 NMP/mL para coliformes termotolerantes, estes valores oscilaram durante os trintas dias de armazenamento tempo este de validade do produto industrializado. Também foram detectados nas amostras analisadas uma alta contagem de bactérias, nas amostras da água de coco da indústria A armazenada sob-refrigeração, indicando assim possivelmente o uso de matéria prima contaminada, falhas no processamento distribuição e ou armazenamento, estas diretamente relacionadas ao binômio tempo/temperatura insatisfatórios. Os valores encontrados para Bolores e Leveduras variaram de 5,05x10²UFC/mL a 7,6x10⁵UFC/mL, valores estes considerados elevados, caracterizando a água de coco como imprópria para o consumo quando comparadas á legislação vigente. De acordo com os resultados sugere-se que esta contaminação tenha ocorrido durante a manipulação e ou processamento, uma vez que esta apresenta-se estéril dentro do seu próprio invólucro natural sendo, portanto indispensável na industria à implantação e monitoramento de Boas Práticas de Fabricação para as que envasam e comercializam a água de coco.</span>

<p>O experimento foi conduzido na área experimental da Estação Agrometereológica, UFC, em Fortaleza/Ceará, no período de setembro a novembro de 2012, com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito da salinidade da água de irrigação nas características agronômicas do amendoinzeiro, cultivar BRS 1 em solo com e sem biofertilizante bovino. Os tratamentos foram distribuídos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 5 x 2, com cinco repetições, referente aos valores de condutividade elétrica da água de irrigação:0,8; 1,5; 3,0; 4,5 e 6,0 dS m^-1, em solo sem e com biofertilizante bovino, aplicado de uma única vez, ao nível de 10% do volume do substrato, três dias antes da semeadura. As variáveis analisadas foram: número de folhas, altura de plantas, diâmetro do caule, área foliar, comprimento de raiz, matéria seca da parte aérea, da raiz e total. O aumento da concentração salina da água de irrigação reduziu a área foliar, matéria seca da parte aérea, matéria seca total e comprimento da raiz do amendoinzeiro, porém com menor intensidade no solo com o biofertilizante bovino. Treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design in a 5 x 2 factorial scheme, with five repetitions. Five different saline solutions (or irrigation water), identified by their respective electrical conductivities: 0.8, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 and 6.0 dS m^-1, were applied (only once) to bio fertilized and non-bio fertilized soil, at 10% of the substrate volume, three days before sowing. The analyzed variables were number of leaves, plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, root length, shoot dry mass, root dry mass and total dry mass. The increasing of salt concentration on irrigation water reduced peanut plant leaf area, shoot dry mass, total dry mass and root length, but that reduction happened with less intensity in bio fertilized soil. Water Holding Capacity (WHC) was esta-blished in raw meat (WHCr) through the press method and in cooked meat by cooking losses (WHCc). The beef was aged at 7, 14 and 21 days post mortem. The muscles Longissimus dorsi (LD) and Semitendinosus (ST) of 164 castrated males were used. These animals were F1 offsprings of Simmental, Normande, BON (Blanco Orejinegro), Braunvieh, Guzerat, White Brahman, Red Brahman, Limousin and Romosinuano bulls crossed with White Brahman females. In WHCr genetic type and ageing were significant factors in LD and ageing was significant in ST. Ideally, meat of ST and LD should be aged for short time post mortem and the genetic type can affect the water retention in LD. | La capacidad de retención de agua en crudo (CRAr) y en cocinado (CRAc) fue determinada en carne madurada a 7, 14 y 21 días post mórtem. Los músculos Longissimus dorsi (LD) y Semitendi-nosus (ST) de 164 machos castrados provenientes del cruce de machos de las razas Simmental, Normanda, Blanco Orejinegro, Braunvieh, Guzerat, Brahman Blanco, Brahman Rojo, Limousin y Romosinuano con hembras Brahman blanco. Para el parámetro CRAr en LD se presentó significancia de los factores tipo genético y maduración y en ST del factor maduración. Para el parámetro de CRAc en LD fue significativo el factor tipo genético y para ST ninguno de los dos factores fue significativo. No existieron interacciones significativas de los dos factores evaluados. Lo ideal es someter a tiempos cortos de maduración ambos músculos y tener en cuenta el tipo genético al cual pertenece el individuo con el fin de minimizar las pérdidas de exudado.
