Studies on the efficacy and production of BIOGREEN bioorganic fertilizer for high-value crops

The effects of BIOGREEN bioorganic fertilizer on the test crops (tomato, pepper, and bitter gourd) were evaluated in comparison with commercially available chemical fertilizers following efficacy test protocol guidelines by the FPA [Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority, Philippines] and Farmer's Practice. BIOGREEN bioorganic fertilizer at 20-50 kg bags/ha, generated increased yields in tomato by 10.2 percent (or 0.63 t/ha) over the control. Also BIOGREEN bioorganic fertilizer gave a yield of 6.78 t/ha and matched the yield of the full (120-120-120) and half-recommended rate of chemical fertilizer at 60-60-60 (7.8 t/ha and 6.32 t/ha, respectively). Results showed that the use BIOGREEN bioorganic fertilizer alone on bell pepper had an increased yield of 41% or equivalent to 2.0 t/ha over the control. BIOGREEN bioorganic fertilizer also exhibited a higher yield (6.88 t/ha) than half RRC (6.69 t/ha). Moreover, observations showed that the use of BIOGREEN bioorganic fertilizer was also suitable in hot pepper. In bitter gourd efficacy trial, BIOGREEN bioorganic fertilizer exhibited the highest yield among treatments. A marked difference of 7.8 t/ha was observed against RRC and about 186% yield increase (13.46 t/ha) over the control.

Helicoverpa armigera is a key pest of tomato in Iran. It causes economic loss by reduction in fresh fruit quality and yield in tomato which could be suppressed using broad spectrum insecticides for 7-16 applications per season every year. The aim of this study was to introduce new and selective insecticides. This research carried out in three provinces, Ardebil, Golestan and Mazandaran in 2008. The result showed that mean efficacies of insecticides were different at á=1%, but there was no significant difference in interaction of treatments and locations. Carbaryl and spinosad were the most effective insecticides followed by both formulations of indoxacarb (EC and SC) and pridal. Lufenuron (52.58%) had the least efficacy among tested insecticides. Mean effectiveness of indoxacarb in two formulations SC150 (69.66%) and EC150 (74.3%) were the same. Thus spinosad and indoxacarb EC 150 can be recommended against fruit borer of tomato. The toxicity of lufenuron depends on timing of application and developmental stages of the pest.

The efficacy of the application of retardants Ceron and Terpal C on winter rye cv. Igumenskaya is shown in the article. It has been established that using of the retardants on winter rye crops against the nitrogen background of 90-120 kg/ha and higher is obligatory; moreover, fractional application of the retardants is more preferable. The higher is the probability of the lodging caused by weather conditions the higher is the efficiency of growth regulators

Inactivation and removing efficiency of disinfectants (Descosal and Domestos) was tested against <i>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</i> and <i>Candida albicans</i> and their biofilms (2 and 72 h, 3, 7 and 14 days old, respectively). The survival of microbes was studied by pour plating and impedimetry, and the attachment by epifluorescent microscopy.In the surface test, both disinfectants were effective against both test organisms with no significant difference in their efficiency. The decreasing detection times during impedimetric measurements showed higher resistance of the older <i>Ps. aeruginosa</i> biofilms. Both disinfectants tested were fungicidal against <i>C. albicans</i> and bactericidal against <i>Ps. aeruginosa</i> but for biofilm removal Domestos was more efficient.

In pig complexes experiments were performed to study therapeutic and prophylactic effectiveness of myxoferon, activin and metramag for MMA syndrome and endometritis of sows. The influence of myxoferon and activin on sows and suckling pigs, as well as rational time of prescribing metramag to prevent endometritis and MMA syndrome, as well as its therapeutic effect have been determined. Myxoferon in the amount of 20 doses per 2 heads, both separately, and in combination with activin allowed reducing the number of still-born pigs in the experimental groups by 0.3-0.4 head, the number of technological pigs increased by 0.3-0.8 head, as well their birth and weaning weights by 0.3-0.8 kg and 0.1-0.8 kg, respectively. The therapeutic efficacy of metramag at the dose of 0.5 ml/100 kg, intramuscularly, once a day to sows with MMA syndrome and acute purulent catarrhal endometritis was 100%. As is shown, in order to prevent stillbirth and postnatal diseases metramag should be administered for the first time for the first hour from the beginning of farrow, for the second time – after 24 h, and to prevent endometritis and MMA syndrome – for 12 h after farrow and again – after 24 h. Based on the results obtained, that testify high prophylactic and therapeutic efficacy of domestic preparations, they are recommended to be used for postnatal diseases - hysteropathy and mastopathy in sows

Efficacy of metribuzin on weeds and yield of fieldpea (Pisum sativum) النص الكامل

A study was conducted during winter 2004-06 at Jabalpur, to evaluate the efficacy of metribuzin against weeds in fieldpea (Pisum sativum L.) Littleseed canary grass (Phalaris minor Retz.) (37%), wild oats (Avena ludoviciana Dur.) (21%), toothed burclover (Medicago hispida Gaertn.) (38%) and chicory (Cichorium intybus L.) (4%) were the major weeds observed in the field. Application of metribuzin 250 g/ha as post-emergence significantly reduced the population of P. minor but did not control A. ludoviciana compared to its pre-plant soil incorporation and pre-emergence application. Integration of metribuzin with 1 hand-weeding and its sequential application were significantly effective in reducing M.hispida population. Application of metribuzin significantly reduced the root nodulation at 60 days after sowing. Infestation of weeds throughout the crop growth period caused 46% reduction in seed yield of fieldpea. The highest seed yield (2594 kg/ha) was obtained with 2 hand-weeding at 30 and 45 days after sowing, closely followed by metribuzin 250 g/ha at 30 days after sowing + 1 hand weeding at 45 days after sowing (2 331 kg/ha). Sequential application of metribuzin 250 g/ha as pre-emergence + 125 g/ha as post -emergence gave the highest net returns (Rs 11 090) and B:C ratio (1.97).

The efficacy of a single treatment with a 12.5% pyriprole spot-on formulation against induced infestations with R. sanguineus ticks and cat fleas (C. felis) as well as its persistence after repeated washing and shampooing was investigated in four separate studies. In a first study on R. sanguineus involving 32 beagle dogs, the efficacy at various time-points during the 30 days that followed treatment assessed 48h after re-infestation ranged from 100% to 99.3%. No engorged ticks, alive or dead, were found in the treated animals. Shampooing 2 days after treatment and weekly washings did not affect the efficacy. In a second study on R. sanguineus involving 32 beagle dogs, the efficacy at various time-points during the 30 days that followed treatment assessed 48h after re-infestation ranged from 100% to 96.8%. Single washing 8h after treatment and single shampooing 24h after treatment had no negative impact on the efficacy of the product. In a third study on C. felis involving 28 beagle dogs, the efficacy at various time-points during the 30 days that followed treatment assessed 48h after re-infestation was always 100% and weekly washings did not diminish the efficacy. In a last study on C. felis involving 24 beagle dogs, the efficacy at various time-points during the 5 weeks that followed treatment assessed 48h after re-infestation ranged from 100% to 99.8%, and shampooing 24h after treatment did not reduce the efficacy. The product was well tolerated by the dogs.

The experiment was laid out in a Complete Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with 4 replications. Each replication comprised of five sub plots for respective treatments as, T1 Tobacco Leaves, T2 Neem seed powder, T3 Neem oil, T4 Neem oil + Beneficial Microorganism (B.M.) and T5 (Control). The recommended doses of Tobacco Leaves, Neem seed powder, Neem oil and Neem oil + Beneficial Microorganism (B.M.) were sprayed thrice during cropping season. The pretreatment observation to record the population of white fly were recorded 24 hours before spray, whereas post-treatment observations were taken after, 24, 48 and 72 hours one week and two weeks intervals. In first spray against white fly, Neem seed powder was most effective bio-pesticide are showed highest mortality (74.54) followed by Neem oil + Beneficial Microorganism (B.M.) (66.96), after that Neem oil (63.98) and Tobacco Leaves (57.32).
