On the basis of original sources (parliamentary reports, media, journalism, memoirs and statistical data), as well as studies by French authors, reveals a contradictory situation that has arisen in France following the signing of Compiegne armistice with Germany in November 1918, noted that the greatness of the victory over the age-old enemy was an important factor in political life. Representatives of the Left (Socialists) and moderate (radicals and socialists Republican) parties to a greater extent declared commitment to reform and the condemnation of "excessive profits".
