CONSEQUENCES OF IMPROVEMENT CUTTING IN PINE FORESTS

Based on the materials of permanent sample plots (PSPs), which includes six sections, the current study analyzes the forestryefficiency of the system of improvement cutting in a pine forest. The research was carried out in the Ural educational andexperimental forestry of the Ural State Forestry University, the territory of which is part of the Southern Taiga District of theTrans-Ural undulating and foothill province of the West Siberian Plain Forest area (Middle Ural Taiga Forest District).69 years ago, at the working sections of the PSP, an improvement cutting with an intensity of 50-70% in density was carriedout, while accretion thinning occurred 45 years ago with an intensity of 5.1-36.8%. It was found that the control section (580m3/ha) is characterized by the maximum reserve at the age of 86. At the same time, the margin on the working sections variesfrom 497 to 523 m3/ha. The stock of dry-hardy trees in the control section reaches 61 m3/ha with 13 m3/ha in the working sections.In addition, the working sections of the PSP were characterized by large values of the average diameter. After cuttings with anintensity of 70%, the average diameter of the pine exceeds that of the control diameter by 1.5 times. The latter indicates anincrease in resistance against forest fires and recreational loads, as well as landscape attractiveness.
