THE PREVALENCE OF DIROFILARIASIS IN DOGS IN THE CITY OF MILLEROVO, ROSTOV OBLAST

Russian. The article presents a retrospective analysis of the incidence of dirofilariasis in dogs in the city of Millerovo, Rostov Oblast. For the whole period, 495 dogs of different breeds were examined. The research showed that the extensiveness of the infestation depends on the type of habitation and economic purpose of the dogs. The highest rate of infestation was noted among dogs kept outdoors. In the course of the studies, a pronounced seasonality of dirofilariosis disease in dogs was established. The fact that infestation of dogs occurs during the peak of activity of mosquitoes largely determines the seasonality of dirofilariasis manifestation. The maximum rate of infestation for the period 2019-2021 was observed in summer, in late July and August, 34%, and in fall, in September and October, 58%.
