1993
Libois, R.M. (Liege Univ. (Belgium). Inst. de Zoologie. Lab. d'Ethologie)
During the last ten years, the evolution of the status of the mammal fauna of Wallonia (southern part of Belgium) can be characterized by four main trends: enforcement of a better legal protection; arrival of at least four new species: coypu, raccoon, raccoon-dog and American mink; restoration of badger numbers following the efficient control of rabies; increase of antropophilic or game species (stone marten, ungulates). Unfortunately, the most threatened species (otter, horseshoe bats, barbastella) did not recover.
