Tree ring analysis as an ecological tool: a review of dendrochronological variables
1993
Beeckman, H. (Musee Royal de l'Afrique Centrale, Tervuren (Belgium). Section d'Economie Agricole et Forestiere)
Tree ring analysis has to contribute valuable data for ecological diagnoses and evaluations. To decode the information in tree ring patterns, dendrochronology is extending largely the amount of descriptors. Apart from variables at the macroscopic level, numerous variables at the wood anatomical and chemical level already have been proposed in literature. Tree ring variables are reviewed, illustrating their particular relevance with some examples.
