The Lemnetea and Potametea classes in Zaire
1994
Apema, A.K. (Kisangani Univ. (Zaire))
The author reminds of some models of classification systems proposed for the class Potametea Tuexen and Preising 1942 in Zaire and the different conceptions of numerous phytosociologists in Europe about fresh water aquatic vegetation. A synsystematic scheme is proposed for Zaire as a whole, from the factorial analysis of correspondences (F.A.C.) and the hierarchical ascending classification (H.A.C.). It comprises 17 aquatic associations, 4 sub-associations, 10 variants, 2 sub-variants and 22 facies belonging to 6 alliances and 3 orders, regrouped in 2 classes.
