The purpose of this study was to find the most appropriate size of rotifer for the first feeding of turbot larvae, and to establish the best timing for startfeeding. It was shown that first feeding of turbot larvae took place on day 4, and that the most appropriate rotifer size for first feeding is less than 100 micrometers. On these small rotifers the feeding rate of the turbot larvae was significantly higher (p less than 0.05) than for unsorted or larger rotifers.
