Laboratory and field experiments were realized to set up a method to control potato aphids. As predators have a lower rate of increase than aphids, they have to be introduced in large numbers early in the development of aphid populations. The timing and the density of ladybirds to be released in the field could be determined on the basis of the Bombosh's model. The parameters of this model were estimated by laboratory experiments (observed rate of increase in numbers of aphids, predatory efficiency of ladybird larvae). Then the number of ladybirds to release in the field was calculated
