The Distichodus sexfasciatus is a cypriniform fish living in the Zaire river basin including lake Tanganyika. The study describes the aggressive behaviour of D. sexfasciatus, which appears to recall some behaviour patterns exhibited by cichlid and salmonid fishes, but without any frontal. The distichodus show a territorial way of life in aquarium. The daily rhythm of feeding activity is synchronized with daylight period
