The Marine Physical Laboratory's Adaptive Beach Monitoring Pilot Experiment was conducted during the 8-week period from 24 April to 16 June 1995. Seismoacoustic, magnetic, electric, environmental, and other ancillary sensor systems were deployed both on the beach and in the near shore waters off the Camp Pendleton Marine Base in Southern California. The purpose of this report is to present and discuss the environmental measurements made during the experiment. These environmental measurements include basic weather data, water sound speed, water depth, ocean surface wave activity, ocean currents, and traffic patterns along Highway 5.
