Fluoride Chlorinity Ratios in Narragansett Bay
1972
Miller, Jr | Gerard R. | Woosley, Kyle | Kester, Dana R.
Fluoridation of domestic water supplies contributes a significant portion of the total fluoride at the head of Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. Fluoride and chlorinity measurements were made at twelve stations in Narragansett Bay to evaluate their use as chemical tracers in this estuarine environment. The observations indicate that fluoride mixes conservatively along the main axis of the Bay and there was not sufficient evaporation or fluoride removal to be detected in the plot of fluoride-chlorinity ratio versus 1/Cl salinity.
