THE EMERGENCE OF CENTRAL ASIAN REPUBLICS AND THEIR IMPACTS ON SOUTH AND WEST ASIA (TURKEY, IRAN, PAKISTAN)

The general thrust of this study is to assess the emergence of Central Asian republics political economic military strategic and multi dimensional technical repercussion impacts and implications on the world as a whole. The specific focus of this study is to discuss the policies of Iran. Turkey and Pakistan towards the Central Asian Republics, their relations and analyzing potential opportunities and existing constraints which act as hindrance in the way of developing their relations with these republics.Central Asian Republics have great deal of natural resources such as minerals one of the rarest and precious in the world) water and diverse physiography allocating enough areas for fresh water lakes, forests, pastures, arable land and mountain ranges etc. Taking the geographical realities into consideration central Asia is destined to play a key role in the Asia and global politics in the decades to come. Its location in geo-strategically important heart land of the world, which Sir Halford Mackinder had said is the “Natural fortress in the World” contiguity of borders with many powers and provision of good neighbour facilitate and promise the process of progress in the coming decades.The Collapse of Soviet Union and the consequent emergence of independent CARs have changed the geo-strategic environment of the region. These independent republics in the initial stage of political transformation were facing various political, economic, social, demographic and military problems. The international community in general and neighbouring states in particular, cannot remain aloof from these developments. A competition has begun among the South West Asian States by evolving a wide range of policies in strategic political, economic, religious and cultural dimensions both at bilateral and multilateral levels toward various Central Asian Republics Besides competition, Iran, Turkey and Pakistan are also pursuing another form of cooperation. The states of both regions have formed Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) a useful forum to discuss and coordinate adequate approaches for cross border issues and problems including trade, economic, border black markets, drugs and arms trafficking ecological damages and other related issues.Like Iran and Turkey, Pakistan aspires to play significant and meaningful role in these republics. Pakistan is linked with Central Asia with common history, common tradition, above all common religion and culture. Pakistan has certain advantages has skilled manpower, consumer and engineering goods scientific and technical training could provide significant help, linking land-locked CARs to the global economy by providing them with the shortest trade routes to the out side world. In return, the CARs could provide gas oil electricity and other minerals resources to energy-starved Pakistan. Though Pakistan has shaped its strategic political and historic ties, spurred by modern incentives but there are obstacles which act as hindrance in the way of effectively realizing the potential opportunities.
