Show more [+] Less [-]This document describes birds found in Puget Sound. Three primary marine avian habitats are examined: open water, rocky shoreline and open mud-flats. The species associated with these habitats that are included in this document are Surf Scoter (Melanitta perspicillata), Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus bachmani) and Dunlin (Calidris alpina). Distribution, life history, habitat requirements and key stressors are examined. Ecosystem processes affecting nearshore birds is discussed.
