NUMERICAL MESH IMPACT ON COMPUTATIONAL SIMULATION EFFICIENCY | UTJECAJ NUMERIČKE MREŽE NA UČINKOVITOST RAČUNALNE SIMULACIJE

Analizira se utjecaj numeričke mreže na efikasnost numeričkog modela i na kvalitetu rezultata kroz matematički model plitkih voda u 2D slučaju, odnosno Navier-Stokesov model strujanja fluida u 3D slučaju. U obama slučajevima koristi se implicitna numerička shema koja pretpostavlja rješavanja linearnog sustava u svakom vremenskom koraku. U 2D slučaju predložena je upotreba numeričke mreže konačnih volumena centriranih po ćeliji jer ona daje matricu linearnog sustava pogodne strukture, a u 3D slučaju prednost se daje poliedarskom tipu mreže.
Show more [+] Less [-]The numerical mesh influence on the efficiency of the numerical model and quality of obtained results is analyzed in a mathematical model of shallow water flow in the 2D case and a Navier-Stokes fluid flow model in the 3D case. Both cases implement an implicit numerical scheme that produces a linear system solution in every time step. In the 2D case, the use of a cell-centered finite volume mesh is suggested because it gives a suitable linear system matrix and in the 3D case, a polyhedral mesh type is preferred.
