This study has made as an attempt to know about the floristic condition and distribution pattern with relation to soil and water in the Sundarban mangrove forest, Bangladesh by applying standard method. The result indicate that the soil condition and water quality of Sundarban is likely different from the other areas of Bangladesh. That is why the physical condition in Sundarban is favourable for the tidal plant species and saline dominated trees. The average pH values were found 6.3, 6.5 and 6.6 in the Sharankhola, Chandpai and Burigoalini, respectively. It has also found that the percentages of silt is slightly higher than sand. It has found that the soil of Sundarban mangrove forest at Sharankhola area is rich in calcium followed by magnesium and potassium is very low towards the southern part of Burigoalini area. Seasonal variation of water analysis of the various rivers within the forest, exhibited strong variation in salinity and conductivity particularly in the inland rivers during the winter month which is related to lack of flow from Ganges river. Distribution of plant species varies halophytic areas with their availability and abundances.
