Subcrhonic toxicity of Cuban produced Spirulina platenses

Spirulina was administered in doses of 1000 mg/kg for 28 days in rats SD. Clinical sing and behavior of body weight was observed. Haematology and biochemistry were measured, also post-mortem evaluation, including weight of organs, macroscopic observation and histopathology test were made. No deaths or clinical alteration were reported. No statistic differences were reported from body weight behaviour, haematology and biochemistry parameters except ASAT, glucose and total protein although these was not attribute to the toxic effects of Spirulina platensis. No alterations were reported from post-mortem studies.
