The data in this report were collected on Cruise SO87 Legs I, 28 April to 13 May, and II, 14 to 23 May 1987, aboard RV New Horizon of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO). This cruise was part of the Coastal transition Zone (CTZ) program (The CTZ Group, 1988). The CTZ program was aimed at understanding the causes and consequences of the physical, chemical and biological structure in the CTZ region with particular emphasis upon the cold filaments which are often seen in satellite images. This was a multi- investigator, multi-institution program.
