Avaliação de índices espectrais de vegetação a partir de dados ótico-orbitais da série landsat (OLI, TM) e sua relação com o teor de carbono orgânico no solo.

Resumo: A quantificação do carbono orgânico do solo (COS) é de grande importância para a agricultura e o uso sustentável da terra, porém, ocorrem dificuldades para estimá-lo em grandes áreas, como o alto custo da amostragem de solo e dos preparos em laboratório. Há abordagens que podem facilitar a estimativa do COS, como o uso de imagens de satélite e a aplicação de modelos estatísticos baseados em índices de vegetação e nas bandas espectrais do satélite Landsat. Neste estudo foi proposta a avaliação de índices espectrais de vegetação (NDMI, EVI e o índice de biomassa aérea da vegetação (BAV), proposto pelos autores) a partir de dados ótico-orbitais da série Landsat (OLI, TM) para estimativa de teor de COS. Estatisticamente, o coeficiente de determinação (R²) apresentou valores de 0,5 a 0,6 entre as variáveis teor de COS determinado da coleta de amostras de solo e os valores dos índices extraídos das cenas nos pixels correspondentes aos locais de coleta de amostras. Entretanto, através do mapeamento feito por software de SIG (ArcGis®) foi possível observar que o manejo das culturas na área de estudo impactou na relação da biomassa e, consequentemente, na concentração de COS ao longo do tempo. Portanto, o uso dos índices espectrais de vegetação para estimativa de CO S necessita de melhores validações e calibrações para tentar se melhorar, estatisticamente, a relação entre as variáveis de estudo. Abstract: The quantification of soil organic carbon (SOC) is very important to agriculture and sustainable use of the land, but there are difficulties to estimate it in large areas, such as the high cost of extraction of soil samples and laboratory preparations. There are approaches that can facilitate the estimation of SOC, such as the use of satellite imagery and the application of statistical models based on vegetation indices and on the spectral bands of the satellite under study. In this study it was proposed the evaluation of spectral indices of vegetation (NDMI, EVI and the aboveground biomass index (AGBI), proposed by the authors) from optical-orbital data of the s Landsat series (OLI, TM) for estimation of the content of SOC. Statistically, the coefficient of determination (R²) presented a moderate relationship (0,4 to 0,5) between the SOC measured in collected soil samples and the values of the contents extracted from the scenes in the pixels corresponding to the sampling locations. However, through the mapping done by GIS software (ArcGis®), it was possible to observe that the management of the cultures in the field of study impacted on the biomass ratio, and consequently in the concentration of SOC over time. Therefore, the evaluation of the vegetation spectral indices for SOC estimation requires better validation and calibrations in order to try to improve, statistically the relationship between the study variables.
