Tres cerdos machos castrados de 20 kg se prepararon quirúrgicamente con una anastomosis íleo-rectal término-terminal para estudiar la digestibilidad del N de harina foliar de yuca (Manihot esculenta Crantz) introducida en dietas isonitrogenadas (N, 2.24%) de miel rica y harina de soya de acuerdo con un cuadrado latino 3x3. La digestibilidad de MS, MO y N descendió sin efecto significativo (P0.10) cuando se introdujo la harina foliar de yuca desde 0 hasta 24.4% en la dieta. La digestibilidad ileal del N de la harina foliar de yuca calculada por análisis de regresión fue 43.9% mientras que la digestibilidad in vitro resultó igual a 41.0%. Se sugiere que la digestibilidad ileal del N de la harina foliar de yuca es comparable a la de otras fuentes foliares de N como la alfalfa.

Three castrated male 20 kg pigs were surgically prepared with an end-to-end ileo-rectal anastomosis to study ileal N digestibility of cassava foliage meal (Manihot esculenta Crantz) introduced in isonitrogenous diets (N, 2.24%) based on sugar cane high-test molasses and soybean meal according to a 3x3 Latin square dessign. A non significant disminution (P0.10) in DM, OM and N digestibility was observed when cassava foliage meal was introduced in the diet from 0 to 24.2%. Ileal N digestibility of cassava foliage meal as calculated by regression analysis was 43.9% whereas in vitro N digestibility was 41.0%. It is suggested that N digestibility of cassava foliage meal is comparable to that of other foliar sources of N such as lucerne meal.
