Neptuno-INIA es un cultivar de avena de hábito alternativo de alta calidad industrial obtenida a partir de un cruzamiento entre los cultivares Nehuén-INIA y Urano-INIA realizado en 1989 en el Centro Regional de Investigación Carillanca, del Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias, ubicado en Temuco, Chile. Fue incorporada a ensayos de rendimiento en 1996. Neptuno-INIA tiene un buen rendimiento (7,01 t ha-1) y sobresale por su rendimiento industrial (4,93 t ha-1) y molinero (1,42 t ha-1), además por su alto contenido de proteína (12,87%) y extracción de grano pelado (70,5%). Además es resistente a oidio (Erysiphe graminis DC. f. sp. avenae Em. Marchal).

Neptuno-INIA is an alternative oat cultivar obtained from a cross between Nehuén-INIA and Urano-INIA oat cultivars carried out in 1989 at the Carillanca Regional Research Center, National Agricultural Research Institute, located in Temuco, Chile. Neptuno-INIA has been included in yield trials since 1996. It has a good yield (7.01 t ha-1), and especially good industrial (4.93 t ha-1) and milling (1.42) yields, as well as a high protein content (12.87%) and groat percentage (70.5%). Furthermore, this cultivar is resistant to powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis DC. f. sp. avenae Em. Marchal (Erysiphe graminis DC. f. sp. avenae Em. Marchal).
