The results and analysis of a 1986 sample survey of agriculture in Ghana are provided. It updates current crop statistics of the country and covers most of the items of the 1984/85 agricultural census which relates to crops. The statistics relate to small scale farmers and involve estimates relating to area and yield of crops and number of holdings and their characteristics. Predominant crops used in the study involve eight major crops - maize, rice, millet, guinea-corn, cassava, yam, cocoyam and plantain
