The role of management in the livestock industry
1987
Dappah, S.K. (Ministry of Agriculture, Accra (Ghana). Policy, Planning, and Evaluation Section)
The importance of effective management of the agricultural resources in general and the livestock industry in particular, in Ghana, is discussed. Deficiency in protein and calorie content of food consumed by the average Ghanaian in comparison with the rest of the world, is of concern especially for pre-school, school age, pregnant and lactating mothers. Surveys only identify the major proximate causes of malnutrition but not the agricultural, economic and social problems. There is the need for use of competent management techniques or utilization of management skills by farmers to improve livestock productivity, for domestic as well as export consumption
