A diagnostic survey was carried out among pig farmers in the Greater Accra Region to gain some understanding about the pig industry and its associated problems as well as how best these problems can be addressed. In all, there were 48 respon~ents. Most of the farmers (84 per cent) had between 11 and 150 animals of various sexes and a groups. Many dispose of boar (53 per cent) and sows (43 per cent) after 2 years of use. Most farmers (98 per cent) mix their own ration to feed their animals, albeit poor in quantity or quality or both.
