[Brief note on loquat (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.) and its utilization]

Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.), which is well known in West Java by the name of papalaan, is an exotic fruit tree. Originally the plant is from Southern China and Japan and it belongs to the family Rosaceae. In Indonesia it grows in hilly regions and a small amount can be found growing in yards and gardens in the District of Pacet (West Java). Besides the edible fruits the leaves of this plant are used for medicinal purposes.
