Ecological investigations on the seasonal abundance of the attacking stage of the pink borer, S. inferens were made in different seasons of the year on wheat. The pink borer, S. inferens was observed to attack the crop during the month of January in all the seven wheat growing districts in Bangladesh. During the three years of observation (1979-1981) the average number of the larval populations of the borer on wheat in the seven north-western districts of Bangladesh varied from 2.84+-0.34 to 5,48+-0.66 in January, 14.57+-0.24 to 31.39+-1.06 in February and 14.56+-56 to 21.29+-0.58 in March. The seasonal average number of borer population for these districts varied from 11.79+0.32 to 18.56+0.68
