In all, 52 bacterial colonies were isolated from the rice fields of the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute and were studied for their growth responses at the different concentrations of urea, TSP and muriate of potash. The growth of the organisms was found to be stimulated with the prese--nce of rice roots in culture plate experiments.
