[Ground beetles (Coleoptera, Carabidae) of the near-water biotopes of the Left-Bank Ukraine's Polissya (Forest zone) and Forest-Steppe]

One hundred and eighty-seven species of ground beetles (Carabida) from 55 genera are recorded in the watersheds of the Polissya region (the Forest zone) and Forest-Steppe of Left-Bank Ukraine as well as 130 species from 41 genera in near-water biotopes of the two zones. Two types of ground beetle groupings are revealed to exist, a riparian grouping and a watershed one. On the basis of a preferrential complex of the riparian grouping a system is introduced for evaluating the state of rivers' banks
