An attempt is made to discover a complex ecological process of interaction between natural forest phytocenoses and soils at the territory of the Steppes of Ukraine and gyrnets habitats of Moldova. Ecological factors are considered of forest soil creation in the Steppe, as well as of methodological and methodic principles of surveying soils. Structural organization of forest biogeocenoses in the Steppe is described. Ecology of edaphotopes of gully forest biogeocenoses and edaphotopes of valley forests of the Steppe of the Trans-Dnieper region is elucidated
