[Intergovernmental natural reserve territories as an important constituent of an ecological network]

Problems of creating intergovernmental natural reserve territories are considered as a priority aspect of UICN's activities. There are 160 intergovernmental natural reserve territories in 113 countries of the world and this fact contributes to integration of countries' efforts in controlling fires, poaching, illicit market, in particular that of plant and animal raw materials. The paper deals with advantages of these territories, the biosphere reserves gain special significance. The essence of Seville strategy's understanding of biosphere preserves is clarified. It is stressed that in the countries, which have adjacent nature protection territories, the level of cooperation increases. As an example of fruitful cooperation of the states given are the activities of the biosphere preserve "Karkonosze" (1993), the National park "Uzhansky" in the Ukrainian Carpathians in the composition of the three-lateral Ukrainian-Polish-Slovak biosphere preserve "Danube Delta", the first in Central Europe. Information is given on prospects of development of transboundary territories, maps of natural preserve territories.
