Purification of burley tobacco varieties

Purification of 36 entries was conducted for morpho-agronomic characterization. The entries with similar morphological characteristics were: Burley (Pangasinan) and Burley 21; Burley Fortune and Callitang; Harrow Velvet, JRR White Burley, Ky 52 and No. 506; Ky 14-2 and Ky 15; Ky 17 (Galaxie), Ky 17 (USA) and White Burley; and Harwin and W1K. In terms of uniformity, only Bantog 1, Bantog 2 and Callitang had the highest percentage of mixtures. Three to four lines were distinct in Bantog 1 and Bantog 2. Further purification is needed before their identity could be established
