Seventeen isolates of crystalliferous sporeformers were obtained from soil and silkworm litter samples. Fifteen isolates belonged to Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies such as kurstaki, sotto, aizawai, morrisoni, tolworthi, and darmstadiensis. Two isolates were nonmotile and morphologically similar to Fowlers bacillus. Fine isolates belonging to kurstaki, sotto and darmstadiensis were toxic to silkworm, Bonbyxmore. One isolate of subspecies morrisoni was highly toxic to mosquito larvae, Aedes aegypti but non toxic to silkworm
