The cultural management practices on garden pea under Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet [Philippines] conditions were conducted. Research studies were made during the 12 planting months starting October, 1981 to 1983, and verification studies were made from October, 1984 to 1985. Results of the study on garden pea pod production involving three garden pea varieties (Kalantao, Chinese, Sugar mammoth Luscious) showed that Kalantao and Chinese varieties significantly gave more marketable pods. The individual total yield of both varieties were also significantly higher as compared to Sugar mammoth luscious which gave the lowest yield. Findings on tillage practices showed that digging the plots once produced the highest weight of marketable pods, weight of pods per treatment, and computed yield per hectare. On the other hand, digging the plots twice gave the highest weight of non-marketable pods. Weed population and higher occurrence of pest and diseases were also observed in plots dug twice.
