Life history and behavior of Tetrastichus sp. (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) [Philippines]

The total development period of Tetrastichus sp. ranged from 12.1-14.1 days with a mean of 13.14 days. Courtship and mating of the parasite commenced upon emergence from the host. The mating sequence included mounting, antennae contact, copulation and dismount. Egg ovipositional behavior was also noted. Survival and longevity rates of Tetrastichus sp. were higher when fed with honey solution (50%) and sucrose solution (50%) than with other media. High fecundity of female parasites on corn borer pupae was observed. Host-age and host-parasite ratio had an effect on the parasitism rates and number of progeny produced by Tetrastichus sp.
