A cane harvester having an endless conveyor for elevating cane billets from a chopper for deposit through a passage onto a secondary elevator. A fan directs a blast of air across the passage to force trash and leaves through an outlet chute. A rake assembly is provided above the conveyor to level and even the billets and trash thereon and an air jet arrangement is disposed at the upper end of the conveyor to prevent build up of trash and assist the conveyance of trash and billets through the passage. A trash deflecting assembly is provided in the outlet chute so that the direction of trash existing therefrom can be selectively varied.
